Had the cauliflower and salad. My husband had the enchilada bowl. The staff seemed knowledgeable about celiac and the food was excellent. Glad to have this app to find celiac safe restaurants when traveling.
where do I start? đ
the service is chefs kiss đ- Iâve always had amazing servers who try to make our experience special.
â¨I could write a love song about
the wedge salad. I get it every time.
â¨I dream about the thunderbird pizza. (also, all the pizzas can come gluten free! big win) Itâs slightly spicy and sweet.
â¨I wish I could swim in the espresso martini.. I think it's the best one in Memphis. they have a revolving drink menu and I've never tried one I didn't like.
my only complaint is it's a little loud in the center of the room so it's hard to hear if you're sitting at a large table.

Marlowâs Barbecue is an absolute gem! Not only is it rich in historyâElvis himself used to eat and hang out here when he was a sheriffâbut the food and service are top-notch. Did I mention that theyâll come pick you up in a limo for free? Itâs complementary, but donât forget to tip the amazing Driver ,who is also an awesome person. Three generations of owners have kept this place alive, and you can feel the passion in every bite. Our server was Kristy. She was fairly new there and an absolute prize. The current owner Michael is on-site and incredibly knowledgeable, especially when it comes to celiac and food allergies, which is a rare and much-appreciated find. I have celiac so finding somewhere safe to eat everywhere I go is always a goal. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and thereâs Elvis memorabilia everywhere. This place is like a museum and an incredible restaurant and the food is absolutely phenomenal. For me, this place checks all the boxes. I canât recommend it enough!
This really is a hidden gem! Speakeasy vibe with an eclectic menu. Gluten-free options are clearly marked on the menu which is much appreciated. I had the Jumbo Shrimp & Grits and it was so good! My partner that has no dietary restrictions had the Cajun Pasta. He said it was very good as well.
Babalu East Memphis is not as loud as a Babalu Midtown, but it's still a little loud for a lot of conversation. However, the food is so good (and there are a lot of choices for us celiacs) that I go anyway, when I get a chance. I had a great glass of red sangria (made on site) and my companion had a yummy looking drink, but I forgot what it was. The service was good, and I especially enjoyed the new server who made the guacamole table side. Can't wait to go back!
A little overpriced in our opinion, but delicious steak! The second one that is.
We ordered a medium rare steak and were served a medium well, BUT, the staff made SURE we were happy and raced out an absolutely wonderful filet mignon- free of charge.
One big plus side, was that they offered a gluten-free/vegetarian menu for dietary restrictions.
We enjoyed ourselves and were satisfied in the end.
Our first time in Memphis and we lived this place. We were greeted immediately by the staff, given a thorough rundown of the menu items with recommendations. We chose the Texas trio - ribs, brisket, and sausage. All 3 were outstanding. The mac and cheese was different, but really good. The Texas twinkie was a solid classic, and the cole slaw was cole slaw.
If we ever make it back to Memphis, we'll be back to Bains.
We had a gluten free member with us and she had zero issues.
Iâm titling this one of the worst anniversary experiences weâve probably ever had in 22 years. I will keep it short. To start the valet is not covered between the restaurant and where you drop off. It was raining and we got soaked going into the restaurant. Also, the signage is small for the restaurant and valet, we had to call to find both. Next, my wife is gluten free( gluten intolerance that makes her super sick) she stated this on the reservation and to the server when she asked for a gluten free menu. This did not happen, the wrong food, that looked similar to what she ordered( we thought) and was told by the expo was her food was delivered. We did not find out until she was 3/4 the way complete with the meal. The server and manager were great and super apologetic but this is bad. My wife has not touched gluten in 6+ years, she is now in the restroom and will be there the remainder of the night. This is not a good look for a super expensive restaurant. I have to say my food was excellent, the reason I paid for it. Best pasta, I have probably ever had. Anyways food is good despite the circumstance.
Last, the valet, we give the ticket to the server to get the car. After 10 minutes or so we go to the stand to get it. The valet standing there says Iâm on my way to get it. We wait another 20 mins and still no one has come back. At this point we are worried. We finally see the other valet who tells us that the guy has lost our fob and is looking for it. The guy who lost the fob finally comes back and admits this to us. Donât forget it is still pouring down rain. I go with no umbrella to retrace his footsteps. Needless to say in the half mile between the lot they park the cars and the restaurant we do not find it. Long story short, we have friends on the way to bring us another key, and I happen to find it using the flashlight I have after an hour and a half search. The owner of the valet service was spoken with and was planning to buy a new fob, but just know if you valet here that they park your car in a gravel parking lot that is unattended a half mile from the restaurant. The car is dirty and again a half mile from the restaurant.
To end I will probably order pasta Togo sometime, but will probably never be back. Also, the atmosphere was kind of boring, definitely not a magical night.
This is my favorite place to eat in Memphis! Every time I pass through on a roadtrip this place is a MUST. They are so friendly and the food is delicious. Thereâs gluten free fried catfish and shrimp which is my go to. Itâs close to the river and downtown, super easy to get to. Thereâs something special about this place and itâs worth a stop in!

I have a gluten allergy and the staff has put me at ease every time we eat here with their knowledge of ingredients as well as potential for cross contamination.
It is not often that I feel comfortable eating at restaurants due to my allergy, but Shane and the staff go above and beyond to make sure I am. And on top of that the atmosphere and food are amazing!
The liquor store diner is located in such a beautiful area. The restaurant deserves 5 stars indeed. It exceeded in all aspects of service today. The menu has options for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free. Our server today was Anna Belle and she was great at managing the floor along with the rest of her team. The food was very fresh and drinks were on point. I highly recommend trying this place out and taking pictures before walking in.
I ordered the Red Snapper Veracruz which was paired with Rice, steamed Squash, Garlic butter sauce and it didn't disappoint!!! Everything was seasoned to perfection!! The portion size was well worth it!!! I'm gluten-free, so this was the perfect meal for me.
If you love Red Snapper I would definitely recommend it!!!
My family is a regular at Hueys in East Memphis!! My husband has a gluten intolerance, but Hueys has the best gluten free buns in the CITY. He goes WEEKLY just for their gluten free burgers!! Sometimes they are out of them, but I think if more people knew about their GF bun option, they would keep them stocked up!!
