A great Italian restaurant! We had to wait a while for a table to open, but it was definitely worth it. The food was delicious, the wait was reasonable, and the service was very friendly. We had pasta with pesto and gluten-free risotto with pear. All pasta dishes and risottos were also available in gluten-free versions. We really enjoyed it and would gladly come back :)
100% gluten-free menu! The food was delicious. It's a small place, so if you want to eat there, you'll have to sit at the bar (maximum 3 people) or outside on the terrace. They also serve takeout.
We had someone in our group that has celiac disease and the restaurant was so accommodating and was able to make accommodations so that the items we ordered were all gluten free. Overall great food, great service and great value!
Highly recommend: The octopus dish, mussels and their catch of the day (for us it was the sea bass and it was delicious!).
If you are in Cascais and looking for a place for dinner (especially needing a place that can accommodate celiacs), make sure to check this place out!
Soooo good! I have celiac and it was very helpful that the menu was labeled with gluten free items. I actually forgot to mention that I had celiac (which I usually do just in case) and I still ended up being totally fine. The food was delicious and our waiters were excellent. We made a reservation and were able to sit on the balcony. I would absolutely return.
They say they have a menu for celiacs but when asked they say there isn't one and that it will take more than an hour for them to make it available again...
A local restaurant with local food. We ordered garlic prawns to share and I tried the cod with custard and lagoureiro. Both delicious, but I recommend the second one more. Very good fish
They treated us great, the menu was in several languages and much of it was gluten-free
Delicious pancakes! Various dairy-free and gluten-free options. A great meal at an affordable price. Very helpful and polite service. I highly recommend it :)
Beautiful venue, fantastic staff and customer experience, amazing selection of cocktails and food which were all delicious! Overall a great dining experience! Gluten free options available!
Finally gluten-free beer in Cascais, here they hardly even know they exist, guacamole, pico de gallo and various tacos. For Spaniards they also have Mahou on tap and Alambra

Nicolau is a breakfast and brunch Classic and always a great option. There is normally a little bit of a line but it moves fast.
🥑They have quite a few vegan options on the menu. Highly recommend the AMELIA toast with beetroot hummus, avocado and turmeric granola on top served on a whole grain patty. It’s delicious!!
🥗Also had the vegan coconut yoghurt - it was served with blueberry yoghurt and cinnamon/apple jam was out. It tasted good but the plain coconut yoghurt with the jam like it’s on the menu is much better. Peanut butter on top was a good alternative.
🙋♀️Service was very good - the waiters responded to all my questions and food came fast. Thank you ladies!!!
📍Located about 10-12 min from train station. Note, train doesn’t always leave on time. I ran all the way to the station and we ended up leaving 10 min later.
↗️Suggestion owner: It would be lovely, if you could inform if an ingredient is not available before taking order. 🙏 Also, I’d love to see gluten-free alternatives marked on the toast menu.

Excellent pizzeria in a pedestrian street in Cascais. Very pleasant servers. Thin, crunchy dough and topping for quality pizzas. A guaranteed reduced menu of fresh produce. The beetroot and asparagus risotto was a very good alternative to pizza (I'm gluten free). Very good value for money. I recommend.
Excellent seafood platter value for money. All of very good quality. The attention of the waiters was excellent. We asked to change the table because we wanted without air conditioning and they turned off the air. Also very attentive to the issue of gluten intolerance. Everything perfect. The modern and spacious decoration. A place to enjoy an unforgettable lunch or dinner. We will definitely repeat if we return to Cascais.
Dining at Don Alfonso 1890 in Cascais was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, the experience exuded excellence, with service that easily surpassed the traditional five-star rating – this was six-star service at its finest. Every element of our visit reflected an unwavering commitment to guest satisfaction, with no limit to the staff’s attentiveness and care.
We initially came for their signature Neapolitan pizzas which are offered until 6.30pm prior to evening service. The pizzad were a masterpiece of culinary craftsmanship. The pizzas arrived perfectly blistered, light yet satisfying, adorned with prosciutto, arugula, cherry tomatoes, and delicate slices of Parmesan. Each bite transported us straight to Naples with its authenticity and vibrant flavors.
However, what truly set the evening apart was the restaurant’s adaptability and empathy. One of our party has a gluten allergy, and while gluten-free pizzas weren’t on the menu, the kitchen gladly prepared a gluten-free pasta dish from their evening selection. This level of accommodation was greatly appreciated and highlighted their dedication to ensuring that everyone could enjoy the meal. Additionally, the chef crafted a Mickey Mouse-shaped pizza for our son, a delightful touch that brought a smile to his face. This personal gesture reflected the restaurant’s warmth and genuine hospitality.
The ambiance of the dining area elevated the experience further. Elegantly designed and tranquil, it offered the perfect setting for a relaxed yet upscale meal. The attention to detail extended even to the pre-dinner offerings – fresh, piping hot focaccia filled with cherry tomatoes, paired with high-quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar. This simple yet exquisite starter set the tone for the indulgent evening ahead.
A highlight of our experience was the drinks. The restaurant boasts a highly skilled mixologist whose expertise shone through in every cocktail. He crafted custom drinks that were not only refreshing but also perfectly balanced – some of the best beverages we’ve had in quite some time. His creativity and precision added a layer of sophistication to the evening that we didn’t expect but deeply appreciated.
We must offer special thanks to Ana Sofia, the floor manager and head waitress, who ensured that our evening was flawless. Her professionalism, warmth, and meticulous attention to every detail made us feel truly special. We also want to extend our appreciation to Alexia, who was equally attentive and kind, contributing to the seamless and delightful service throughout the evening.

Delicious food, very friendly staff and a stunning location are three words to describe Monte Mar in Cascais. Those are the ingredients for a great restaurant! Being gluten free and vegan, it is not always easy to find a nice restaurant but Monte Mar has it all. Recommend!
Charming local spot with great, fresh, food and sangria. They even take a photo of you as a keepsake! They were knowledgeable about gluten free options for me!
