Very tasty breakfast, mine was gluten free & vegetarian. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable about gluten free food which they reassured me had a completely separate area where it was prepared. Seeing as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary we treated ourselves afterwards to a plate of delicious gluten free waffles with bananas & ice cream topped with salted caramel sauce which came with a gf shortbread biscuit! We shared this between us as it was huge! Then we chose some gluten free raspberry/chocolate brownies to take away. I highly recommend this gem of a cafe, as a coeliac you can be totally reassured of no cross contamination, and delicious well cooked good. We will definitely be returning here on our next trip to Newquay.

Delicious sourdough pizzas with a stunning sea view. It can get really busy around sunset, so I would recommend making a reservation and requesting a table with a sea view. Gluten free pizza is available at an additional cost to regular. They have the biggest selection of ciders I have ever seen, my girlfriend swears by the Sheppyβs Elderflower one. I wish there were more vegetarian pizza options. Although I have ordered both the Proper Margherita and the Aubergine Kenobi and both were excellent!

Beautiful little cafe overlooking South Fistral with an outside balcony. Very dog friendly (our Bailey loves the attention he gets) and wonderful food. Plenty of choice for all as they cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free etc, as well as for us meat-eaters. I shall miss my blueberry & bacon pancakes (and Bruce will miss his breakfast ciabatta) and we can't wait for the cafe to reopen in spring!

Only stopped for a cuppa but nice welcome and lovely views outside. Enjoyed a shortbread biscuit complimentary with the tea. Would be lovely if they offered a gluten free alternative as my friend had to miss out π

Although a Newquay boy, this was my first visit to the Fort. The food and beer were the standard St Austell brewery fayre, not that there is anything wrong with that! Good selection for all including vegans and gluten free. Carvery seemed popular. The indoor play area for little ones was very popular and makes this a super venue for parents with youngsters. A friendly atmosphere - another customer helped my son in law to blow up a kids balloon! All in all, a pleasant place to spend a Sunday afternoon

We visited the lakeside cafe whilst on holiday , we were a table of 8. 4 adults , 2 toddlers , 2 newborns and we also had the dog. 1 member of our party has coeliac disease and the staff were amazing. They were incredibly knowledgeable about cross contamination and what contains gluten. They were easily able to adjust things on the menu to suit. I would strongly recommend the goats cheese and root veg ciabatta it was to die for. Thank you Lakeside x
