Went here with my mum, we both got a burger and drink with some chips, the burgers came out of the kitchen next to nothing in speed , burgers were great, very friendly service, gluten free buns are just like standard wheat buns, perfect place to eat and this rating is well deserved!
Staff were great & helpful the only issue was there wasn’t a meal for Vegan & Gluten free. The kitchen did try to find something but choice was very limited. I would like to suggest there is at least one option for this dietary requirement.
I am a coeliac. The care the special staff take is amazing. Nothing to difficult for them. Always smiling ,polite and helpful. Thanks to all. Well done
What a great meeting place, a Cafe with great food variety including a large selection of Gluten Free on the menu. I did find the prices a bit on the rich side, they do have some valued goods, I will return as The band wagon certainly has ambience.
My mum and I (both Gluten intolerant) shared the most amazing Gluten Free pizza. Loaded with topping and cooked to perfection. We were promptly greeted and served by the most friendly staff member who was more than happy to cater to our dietary requirements. We will definitely be back! Yummo! :)
If I could give 10 stars for the food, i would. One of the best restaurant meals we've ever had, if not the best. To top if off the dessert was magnificent & it was all made gluten free as my husband is a coeliac. So impressed!
Just wonderful!! We stopped in for lunch and to pick up some sweet treats to take home. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The kids had a great time, especially when their drinks came with jelly snakes wrapped around the straws!
We loved the stuffed mushrooms and the salt and pepper squid with mango salad. The squid was very lightly battered and perfectly cooked, so delicious!
The Cafe is clearly a favourite in the neighbourhood, it has a lovely atmosphere! It felt like we were popping in on old friends.
The lemon tart was divine, so creamy and tangy! The gluten free brownie and cupcake were a huge hit too.
Thanks for making our last stop in Port Mac a memorable one, Bittersweet!
Saw the great reviews and gluten free options and decided on Flare for dinner with my family.
We were one of the last tables of the night.
Lots of GF options and an extensive “meaty menu”
Food was ok but not great.
Service was a standout. Friendly, efficient.
A better place for lunch for me. Think burgers and loaded fries etc.
Excellent food, great gluten free bread (one of the best I’ve tasted being gluten free for approx 10 years). Good milkshakes, great ambience and friendly staff. Towards the pricey end in our opinion ($16 for bacon, eggs and sourdough, and smoothies at $8.50) but worthwhile considering food was excellent quality and eggs were free range (and very tasty!). Would return with no hesitation
Tonight when visiting Port Macquarie, we ate at hogs breath and were really happy with our decision. I am coeliac so MUST be gluten free. We were greeted at the door where we were told that yes, gf was definitely available. Our server for the evening was Abbie and she was really friendly and very helpful as she went between me and the chef double checking ingredients and gf availability. The food was delicious and, for my husband and I, we couldn't fault it in any way.
Amazing cafe we found through our stop heading back to Sydney. Food and service was exceptional. The avocado smash with gluten free toast was so flavoursome and the big breakfast was decent size. Not to mention coffee was also great!
Very friendly and welcoming service. All the entrees and wood fired pizza's we had were delicious. Beautiful flavours. Gluten free pizza's available too. Highly recommend.
Happy with coffee and food was good. I was impressed with the quantity of food for what we paid also. Certainly good value in my opinion 👍
Celiac safe with plenty of Gluten free options. Eaten. Multiple times without cross contamination issues.
Great gluten free options, coeliac aware. Had fresh oysters and gf pad si ew. Great cocktails, nice selection of wine and lovely views out into Port Macquarie waterways
Honestly have gone to this place a couple of times and never had an issue before. Though this time went with a friend who has a celiac disease (medically diagnosed allergy to gluten)
The service they had was poor as although they offer gluten free options on their menus due, after my friend was double checking found out that the food listed were not in fact gluten free. For example the chip listed as gluten free available were not in fact gluten free as the man explained when asked if they had a separate fryer they were cooked with batter fish (the oil was contaminated with wheat). She then opted for a grilled fish burger gluten free. Though my food came her food took another 30mins. As it was sunny we waited inside for her food. Though as we were waiting we saw the workers proceed to make 2 burgers, the buns were the exact same. One ended up being my friend ‘gluten free’ bun and the other for another customer. When she received her order she ask again to confirm it was gluten free. And they were confused and she ask again, did it have a gluten free bun. Then the worker replied with an unconvincing yes. Although my friend said it would be fine like she check multiple times. Anywho after eating she became very ill later and the day due to consuming the burger. She had nothing else only the burger by the time she was sick all afternoon.
What I hope is understood through this is that if your food is not gluten free don’t advertise it as gluten free. If workers don’t understand how to prepare gluten free food, teach them or simply do not provide gluten free options.
We had such a delicious dinner here. The chicken biryani was so flavoursome. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. I was pleased there were so many gluten free options on the menu too.
This is genuinely some of the best food I’ve ever eaten in my life. I’m also gluten free, and very surprisingly most of the food on the menu was gluten free, including desserts! But don’t be fooled, this food is just as amazing for people without dietary requirements. I would legitimately come back to port Macquarie just for this restaurant. The service was also excellent. Lovely staff who were very attentive!! Thank you so much :)
Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and food. My being a coeliac I had the GF stake sandwich. The steak was great everything was fresh but the gluten free bread was it hard as a rock understandably it's hard to get gluten-free bread right all the time but it shouldn't be toasted until it sounds like a rock on the plate everybody else's meals look amazing and everyone enjoy themselves.
Really lovely little place by the water with a great atmosphere. We had the Nasi goreng (gluten free!) and it was really tasty. Coffee was lovely and smooth. Definitely recommend visiting.

Friendly staff, clean, efficient! Great set up for kids(bumpers/ramps). Cafe and bar. Menu looks great, though we hid t eat there. They do have vegetarian options and a gluten free pizza base. We had a yummy hot chocolate.
The best burgers we have had. We were the annoying people that order 10 minutes before the kitchen closed and still our burgers were to die for. My husbands cheeseburger with the homemade beef patty he said he could taste the salt and pepper that had been purposely put in and my grilled chicken burger with the secret sauce is the tastiest grilled chicken burger I have ever had. Even with the gluten free bun I didn’t feel like I was missing out in the slightest as it was so yum. Service with a smile. Hope this review encourages someone to come here because it’s worth it!
We had some delicious food and really enjoyed the service here. The staff catered to gluten free dietary requirements and made us feel very welcomed. The portion sizes were very generous and it was well worth the price.
