Steve's is our favorite place to eat in Helena!
We live about 90 miles away, and when we go to Helena, we go to Steve's! It is a great pre-incentive for my husband for having to go through Costco with me. đ
This is such a great little diner. One thing I love is that they have a separate gluten-free menu that includes breakfast and lunch! I don't have to second guess (or ask!) what is okay for me to order.
The service has always been greatâ every hostess, every serverâthey all appear to love their job! Even when they are busy, they are attentive!
My favorite menu item is the gluten-free Huckleberry Waffle. (I even remembered to take a picture, even though I was already elbow deep in it!) I order it every time, along with a Denver Omlette and hashbrowns. (I have a big appetite, and it shows! Lol)
My husband jumps around the menu more than I do, but he LOVES the bacon and will get a side of it with whatever he is ordering!
Great please for a delicious burger and fries! It was my first time here and I did order a gluten free bun and realized it wasnât gluten free a few bites in but they were very friendly and remade me a new one. Seems the cashier forgot to put it in. I am not celiac but I am highly gluten intolerant so I will have a stomach ache for a few days; just be careful if you are celiac and make certain the cashier rings it in and itâs on your receipt!
I donât want to leave a bad review because the food and staff were great, but just be cautious about your allergies.
3/12/2025. Today we ventured out to a highly recommended Bennyâs Bistro, just a few blocks from downtown Helena. The building and decor is very tasteful with an Art Deco feel. The menu is a mixture of soups, salads, and light sandwiches with many vegetarian, gluten free, and vegan options.
I ordered the ham and cheese panini with chip and house slaw. I didnât care for the slaw at all, but I offered it to Otto and he loved it. The panini, made on their house-made bread was excellent. The âchipsâ (as they call them) are really more like tortilla strips.
Otto ordered the Montana Rancher roast beef cold sandwich and he loved it.
This is definitely not the place for meat-loving, tator tot eating cowboys, but I would bring my wife here for an upscale date night. âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸
They burnt my food and it was nasty and so was the customer service when asked about it being burnt. Was told thatâs how we serve it is black and burnt. Was told they are certified gluten free but said they couldnât guarantee it. Wonât ever come back to this truck. Nasty is even being nice
They were knowledgeable in how their food is prepared. They are knowledgeable about food allergies and have gluten-free options. Like *actual* options, not after thought options. Their shakes are amazing as well. Pricing was fair.
They have outdoor seating, which may be a problem in the colder months.
Called ahead and lo and behold they actually had gluten free pizza!! And...
It was very good! And be sure to get the Huckleberry Freeze. The crust is like a thin regular crust, not like a cracker! I would highly recommend!
I have heard about how exquisite Luuca's was for years. It is located downtown Helena on the walking mall. There is a convenient parking garage close. It is easy access. I have never had the chance to go.
I had gotten a gift card for Lucca's and invited a close friend to share the experience. What a wonderful time we had. The host and serving staff were so friendly and catered to our every need. I would say dinner is a five course meal. Everything was scrumptious. We appreciated that the restaurant supports other businesses by serving their bread. My friend needed a gluten free option, and they brought her gluten free crackers without us even asking. The main dish was described as spicy, I had requested a mild form, and it was SO GOOD. They did offer us desert, but we couldn't eat another bite.
It was obvious that the other patrons were enjoying their meals and lingered in conversation with their friends and family. What a special evening.
We were in Helena for a weekend visit and we're overjoyed to find Village Inn! It brought back so many fond childhood memories đ The gluten-free crust was perfect!
We visited for the second time this weekend and intend on returning for Mother's Day too. This has become a quick favorite with great water and yummy food too! Great gluten free pizza.

This place is an excellent place for lunch, best sandwiches in town, but I stopped by for their bi weekly dinner service. The English pea roasted chicken parm risotto was to die for, so flavorful. The arugula feta pesto pasta was so amazing! The feta really pulled the dish together. The real show stopper was the pork ribs. Holy moly they fell right off the bone. The creamy polenta really lived up to its name, it was creamy and rich. Every bite was savory. I wish I had a bigger stomach so I could have eaten more! That said, you should also stop by for lunch because every single sandwich there is SO FANTASTIC! The fresh baked sourdough foccia is so fluffy and amazing! They have vegetarian and vegan options too! Also for anyone with gluten allergies they can make anything in to a salad and will meet your needs! Great service, great staff, and great food for lunch or dinner.
