Great spot! My girlfriend is gluten sensitive and allergic to shellfish, and she's not able to usually eat at restaurants. It was great finding a spot where we could sit down to a late lunch.
The service, food, and atmosphere were all stellar. The salads came out with a delicious Dijon vinaigrette so light that it almost wasn't there, lending just enough flavor to the tasty greens without overpowering them. My portabella panini was both light and filling, with tons of flavor. The focaccia made all other breads inferior - crispy outside, with a soft inside that soaked up the aioli and vegetable juices.
Her pesto was equally light and delicious. This place was such a great find on an unplanned trip to Woodstock and a great recommendation from the owner of Not Fade Away!
I have celiac disease and can't eat many places. This restaurant is a god send. Best chicken wings, nachos and overall good food. Service is always impeccable, make sure you ask for Mark!
I've heard rave reviews about Cucina and people aren't lying when they say this place is great! It's a beautiful restaurant with great atmosphere; perfect for date night. If you get a chance, choose a porch reservation - they have multiple heaters on the porch to make it comfortable even on cold nights. They had several gluten free options (even for dessert!). We ordered pretty much exclusively from the specials menu and everything was divine. Seriously, get the cheesecake for dessert. It was so good, I ordered it again the next night of our trip for pick-up.
Fantastic experience all around. We loved it! So many gluten free options for my wife including this Chicken Schnitzel. Also, every dessert on the menu is gluten free. Highly recommend!
Went here two days in a row. Wait wasn't more than 10 mins. Food takes a little long considering we got egg dishes, bit it was all delicious and my friends and I were chatting so we didnt mind. Coffee is okay, latte was definitely better. Matcha latte was very good, not too sweet. Tempeh Reuben was good, the goat cheese omelet was delicious. The shakshuka my friend got looked great but I didnt try it. The place greatly accommodates dietary and allergy needs too. My friend is celiac and they were able to offer most of the menu as a safe option. There are vegan options on the menu too.
For one of our few ventures out during this COVID life, we decided to try the new Burger night at the Bear Cafe. It turned out to be a snowy evening in Woodstock and that seemed to keep away most of the clientele, to our isolationist delight.
Our host/server Aidan was pleasant and efficient. Obviously, we ordered the Burgers which were delivered, cooked to our requested doneness. They are made from Kilcoyne Farms beef and were good but considering the toppings of caramelized onions, garlic aioli, and gruyere, were a little bland. They also come with fries, not mentioned in the menu. Burger Night includes a glass of beer as well as the burger!
The steelhead trout tartare appetizer was well received, and the gluten free cranberry tart, and affogatto rounded off the meal very nicely.
It is a beautiful setting, located in the renovated former Little Bear building. A stones throw from their former location which is now the Bear Cantina.
I am so pleased that the restoration of this wonderful complex, hosting several dining choices and an amazing performance venue, The Bearsville Theatre (of course), seems nearly complete!
