Great and quick service, delicious food.
So happy we came here tonight.
Allen made our night amazing. Had good recommendations and was quick to help us decide between dishes.
The tiramisu was a nice treat.
If you are gluten free, this is the ONLY place in Fredericksburg that has had options that didn't end up being a salad!
Was very happy with everything. We beat the weekend morning rush so there were no issues with parking in the back lot or seating. Eggs and ham were excellent. Eggs cooked to each of our request. Waitress was knowledgeable about Celiac and dietary restrictions. Staff was very attentive. We were very impressed and very pleased. We'll come again when we visit.
Our waitress was amazing!! She was very knowledgeable about the ingredients (important for our celiac daughter) and if she wasn't completely sure about our questions she went and asked! So many amazing options, gluten free bun for the burger or sandwiches. Frier is cross contaminated but the other sides available are very good. We all enjoyed our meals, felt safe and didn't get sick!!
Great brunch options, even for those that need gluten free. It did seem that the service ran pretty slow. It took us an hour and half from the moment we set down until we received our food. Our waitress got a little distracted and was helping the kitchen with silverware. But, overall food was delicious.
I have a wheat allergy, and they have a gluten free menu. I got the grilled shrimp and it was very good! Also, I am NOT a fan of avacado, but they're avacado dip was amazing!
Gluten free pancakes were top notch! Sweet potato scramble was incredible at first, but then i noticed certain parts were a bit too oily. Service was great. I would come back on my next trip to Fredricksburg.
A top restaurant in Fredericksburg. Well worth the visit. The patio was lovely with an incredible view of the vineyard. The service was attentive, helpful and friendly.
Signature Meatballs (veal, pork, beef): So good, even our "I don't like meatballs" guest very much enjoyed them.
Salads were fresh and tasty.
Tenderloin Bolognese: Generous portion, right balance of sauce and pasta, savory and well seasoned. Loved it.
Pizzas: Great pizzas. The biggest surprise. One with a gluten free crust so good, we all enjoyed it.
Wine flights were great, with hefty pours.
Although the restaurant advertised gluten-free options, when we inquired about them, the staff was again unhelpful and seemed unaware of what dishes were actually safe. There was no clear communication, and it became apparent that they did not take food allergies seriously. This made the dining experience stressful and unpleasant, as we were constantly worried about cross-contamination and accidental exposure to allergens.
In addition to the poor handling of food allergies, the food itself was incredibly bland and unremarkable. Given the lack of flavor and the disappointing service, it is hard to justify dining here, especially for those with dietary restrictions.
Ultimately, there are better options elsewhere that offer more flavorful food and a safer dining experience for people with allergies. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially if you need to consider dietary restrictions.
Mom and pop shop with everything from ice cream, bakery, sandwiches, and even baked potatoes! There is even seating upstairs inside. It's a really cool place. I love that they have gluten free items too.
Since we moved to TX we were testing different BBQ places but always left disappointed. This place is the real deal. Everything we tried was amazing. Pulled pork, brisket, ribs , delicious. The mc and cheese were so good that the husband told me I have to try them (I have a gluten allergy) but I had a bite and OMG, delicious and creamy. Asian cucumber salad, my sister in law had the beans, hubby had kimchi. Everything was just perfect! Even though we don't live close by, we found our BBQ spot and will be back .
sort of love this little cabin based hotel. the location is good - about 2 min drive to the end of Main st. very very well maintained. lots of cute little spots for a sit and chat or read - very pleasant to walk around. lovely spa with recent updates. and a resturant that we hear is great. it’s a good place to just be away from it all and feel like your at your own cabin vs at a hotel. we only had one complaint - breakfast - it really was lacking. one day it was something labeled “gluten free” that was force-fit into a undersized package. the other a chocolate cupcake. ironic as we asked at the front if we could get regular bread or just a plain croissant - their answer was “no changes to breakfast it’s up to the wim of the kitchen” both days it came with a little cup of fruit and what i think was pudding. we ended up driving into town to get something both days finally be forewarned. cabins 3-6 face the street and the neighborhood across. it sort of gave it the “weekend cabin” feel but sitting on the porch in the morning drinking coffee while the neighbor is washing the car might not be for all - it was fine (see photo of view)
so would i return? - yes!! but bring your own breakfast and stay up front so you can walk out into the thoughtfully maintained grounds
on the weekends you can eat in the resturant. we eat on our final day. - beautiful and DELIcIOUs!
So I have tried a lot of barbecue and I think this is definitely up there in my top 5. The meat is tender and specifically the chicken and ribs fall right off the bone. My wife and I are renewing our vows next year and I think they may have our business for our event. Anna was particularly helpful and accommodating for us to try a little of everything. Also they do their creamed corned without flour which is an extra bonus as my wife is gluten free. All in all a good experience!
Update for 4/23/23
My wife and I had a vow renewal ceremony and we had Backwoods provide the food. It was delivered in time as promised and everything was hot (or cold) and delicious! We got to share this incredible food with friends and family and everyone really loved it! Just as good as the first time. Thank you so much!
Very good coffee overall, the use a special Merit coffee bean that is just for them, it can also be purchased there as well. Their brewing process of expresso is excellent and consistent, meaning that I believe they pay attention to PH levels of the water, and you can definitely tell.
Their syrups are made in house, more than likely with real raw cane sugar and not sucrose (which is the white sugar at grocery stores). You can tell the difference between the two, because raw cane sugar is less sweet, and sucrose is super sweet.
Their pastries and foods is all made in house as well, and it is very good. I don't believe that they use Einkorn flour though, I have a gluten intolerance to the bleached flour in grocery stores but not the real Einkorn flour, which is an ancient grain.
