I’ve always wanted to like this place. I’ve tried it a handful of times over the last 3 years and have never been impressed. My last time there my food was so salty I was shaking for days and almost had to get medical attention it was so bad. I had ordered a gluten free breakfast burrito, as it was listed online that it could be made gluten free without modifications. When I received my order I was given only fillings, no sausage or burrito. What I was able to eat almost sent me to the hospital it was so high in sodium.

The menu of this restaurant is deceptive. If you have celiac, you cannot eat many of the items marked as gluten free, as they do not have a dedicated fryer. So, basically, it’s “gluten free” but not really. And, rather than source tortilla chips from another business that is gluten free, they fry everything together. Also, they ran out of mushrooms for the Bistec de Palomilla, so I guess you need to arrive very early for dinner. It was a disappointing evening, even though the food we were able to have was good.

We eat here about once a month, and I absolutely LOVE enjoying the Pork Belly Tacos with a Hazy IPA on the outdoor patio with some fantastic weather. My partner is both Gluten Free (Celiac) and vegetarian, and she’s never had tummy problems after eating here. There aren’t a ton of taco options for her to choose, but she REALLY enjoys the fried plantains & street corn. Then there’s usually 2-3 taco options as well.

Be careful if celiac and want nachos/tortillas. I called last night to confirm they had a dedicated fryer and the woman kept saying “anything could happen” when asked if the fryer was strictly for corn tortillas and no wheat. Just decided not to eat there because I asked like 4 times if wheat entered the fryer etc, and kept getting the same answer. While as a Celiac, I am taking a risk by eating at a place not 100% GF, I still have the right to make that decision when there’s a claim that the fryer is GF per their website. Be careful Celiacs
