Last year when I came it tasted better and would have been a 4 star. This year the fish was overcooked and it just didn’t taste great, they even gave me only 1 sauce packet with the takeaway option which obviously wasn’t enough. I was happy they provide gluten free but I don’t think I’ll be back. There are better GF options out there.
Very high quality gluten free bun!! The burger itself was juicy and flavorful. One of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. I’d absolutely come back here if I was looking for quick service and a good burger. A nitpicky comment— put table numbers on your table or something so when your customers go inside to pay they can easily tell you where they were sitting! Just saying outside on the porch under the roof doesn’t narrow it down enough you have to list what you ordered, this is a very inefficient system to say the least.
Delicious breakfast with a perfect view! Worth making a reservation as it's usually packed (especially when weather is as good as it is....)
OK range of dietary requirements (e.g. any bread based choices can be made gluten free).
Yummy pot of chai masala tea.
The date and apricot loaf can be bought to re enjoyed at home.
Great place for locals but also to bring tourists-best view in town!
Wild Patch Cafe is an eye catcher when walking or driving past. They are promoting fresh produce, vegan and gluten free options as well with an inviting indoor and outdoor seating option.
Kiama is bustling with busy cafes that seem to offer very similar food options excluding The Hungry Monkey and Forest Eats, with The Hungry Monkey clearly miles ahead. Competition for the majority of cafes in Kiama are based on connivence and service. If the service is lacking, the cafe has less repeating locals.
Both times I’ve been to Wild Patch Cafe they were a similar experience. F.O.H staff unfortunately lacked efficiency and friendly service, at times it felt unwelcoming overall. Of course, we all have bad times and perhaps I’ve caught them twice on a bad day, however, I’m always a welcoming and chatty customer who is willing to spread good word and spend money and time revisiting.
The trend of paying before you eat in a seated Harbourside cafe is odd and takes the finesse away from a dining experience.
The food both times we visited was average for me, representing 3 stars.
However, both times we visited, my girlfriend was served lukewarm food and an over sauced, soggy mushroom burger, resulting in us on the second time asking for a refund which they more than happily obliged, (as if it was a reoccurring issue).
The buns sat on the plate like wet bread, whilst the large mushroom that was on the raw side of grilled had to be taken out of the burger and sliced with a knife. Greasy and soggy.
I had the chilli scrambled both times which were enjoyable and better than most other cafes that offer it, but they were nothing outstanding.
You can tell a lot from an establishments scrambled eggs, and there is 110% huge potential from the cooks within the kitchen.
Of course, this is only my review of our experience.
I’ve read other reviews and see that most are quite an enjoyable experience, which I’m so happy to see.
For us the second time we visited we sat with our unfinished food on the table with our napkins and cutlery on them for over 10 minutes when there was 7 other patrons. The staff continued to look at our plates but went on with chatting until I called someone over.
The lady that gave us a refund was polite and attentive, props to her for being so polite about the situation.
We hoped that our second visit trying the same food would change, but unfortunately it didn’t. I see the enjoyment around the gluten free options and brekkie menu, the coffee a solid 4 stars, but for me, it has been a cafe I won’t return to again after giving it a second shot.
All the best to the owners and staff, in hope they can improve and take this constructive criticism appropriately on board. They have a sensational location, incredible local produce within 30 minutes north and south, and a local community that is supportive.
I’d like to note, both experiences were between Feb 2020 - August 2020, of which I noted them down at the time. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to take photos as I wasn’t planning on writing a review and instead just giving verbal constructive criticism.
A lovely experience! Came here for a dinner date with hubby who has a gluten allergy, and we discovered their entire menu is gluten-free and coeliac-friendly! Chose the mid-range banquet (note, they only do set banquets on weekends). Each dish was lovingly cooked and delicious, from first entrée to final dessert. Even as big eaters, we were both left very full and doggy-bagged some leftovers. Bartender is an absolute gun - cocktails were made to perfection and some of the best we've had. Wait staff were very polite and attentive, and owner, Kierrin, personally came over to serve some dishes and share the restaurant's history. A gem in Kiama worth visiting!
Great food and wine and a beautiful setting. We had the set menu on a Saturday night. The dishes were really well thought out and perfectly cooked. They catered to our gluten free and seafood free requests for two of our friends with no problems.
This is a well loved local Indian. It's always busy so best to book. We have been here twice, once we came a bit late and couldn't get a table so resorted to take away.
They are gluten free aware so good for coeliacs.
We had the vegetarian paneer butter masala, butter chicken and garlic naan. The mango lassi is worth ordering as well.
Service was good, but they seemed a bit understaffed on the day. Food is very good.
Fantastic Selection of Food Coffee & Sweets
On top of that the Awesome Service by staff like Corinne is another reason to come back
The Gluten free pie taste actually better than most other pies
Knowledge of gluten free sweets and patties was good
Highly recommend
Excellent service with a smile, great atmosphere and cute restaurant.
I ordered the gf pizza margarita ( unfortunately it was not to my liking just as the base was very heavy and bready - I've had many gluten free pizzas out and had to be my least favorite which was so disappointing. Definitely would recommend them to look at maybe changing suppliers. They also mix mozerella with buffalo cheese and a sauce for basil - I would say just keep it simple with a margarita - fresh basil leaves, buffalo cheese and sauce. Less complicated pizza is always better. I'm sorry to say it wasn't great.
My partner absolutely loved his pepperoni pizza. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to love their food and the portion sizes were very generous. I think just on the gluten free side/margarita they need to up their game.
Hosted my daughters 16th birthday dinner there with 50 guests. Frank was extremely informative, welcoming, accommodating and attentive from our first meeting til the end of celebration. The food was exceptional as always and included vegetarian and gluten free dietary needs. High praise for the staff for their service.
The atmosphere, presentation and cleanliness of the venue cannot be faulted. Will definitely be returning.
Thank you Frank and everyone at Zias.
Exceptional customer service, such lovely staff, and food is delicious and fresh! Their gluten free food is just as amazing as well. 👏🏼👏🏼 Will definitely be returning
Damn! Kiama's best hidden secret. Want gluten free? Not me, but it's there! Great selection, friendly staff and even if you don't buy anything....use the toilet. Trust me...press the red button. You're welcome 😄
Tasty ice cream at a reasonable price for your seaside visit to Kiama.
While there aren't allergen labels on the flavours the staff have a list of flavours and allergens.
I was able to find some gluten free flavours to enjoy.
Note, the list isn't fully up to date with new flavours.
Amazing! Wide variety of ice cream flavors and caters to all dietary needs (gluten free, dairy free, lactose free, nut free, eggs free, no alcohol etc). They even have gluten free cones. The owner is very nice, greats you with big smile and always welcoming. We visited 3 times over our 5 days stay in Kiama. Thank you so much and we will certainly be back!
Our large group of ten arrived an hour before closing time and the guys were only to happy for us to dine there. Some of the best service I’ve experienced, nothing we asked was too much. Catered for our dairy/gluten intolerant friends without fuss! Highly recommend the shukshaka or the burgers. Thanks for having us 🙏🏼
We have had many Mexican feast's but none as awesome as the one we had on Saturday night. The Fajitas and the Gluten Free enchiladas were absolutely fantastic! Great night and a great atmosphere!!!
Fantastic menu with some gluten free options available on request also.
Great service and pleasant, helpful and attentive, smiling staff which is also dog friendly.
The Spot Cafe is a must experience if you are in Kiama and have the time to sit and enjoy what this business has to offer.
Highly recommend.

Really good value with friendly and helpful staff. They were very accommodating of a coeliac guest.
The options seem daunting for the first two minutes but just pick a tray and go from there. We chose C which was more than enough for two hungry adults - would’ve easily fed three really.
The beer on tap is pretty good, and the salad bar has good kimchi plus a fair variety of sauces.
Do keep in mind that your hair and clothes will smell of bbq. It gets a bit steamy there but I don’t know if that’s the general rule with theses places.
