My wife and I were visiting Southwold and fancied a bit of lunch. We passed many promising looking eateries but didn't see anything suitable as we are both gluten intolerant. At the end of town, we happened across Jakery Bakery and were pleasantly surprised to see that everything they offered was gluten-free. It is a small place and we had the dog with us but there was a table outside where we could sit. I was going to have a toastie, but greed got the better of me, so I ordered that plus a cheese scone and a sausage roll! All were excellent, as was the service from the very welcoming staff, and we both left with full bellies. We'll definitely be back if we ever find ourselves in Southwold again.
This seaside spot is a haven for gluten-free diners, offering superb gluten-free fish and chips prepared with care using separate fryers to ensure safety and flavor. The bright, airy atmosphere with open doors invites a refreshing breeze, enhancing the dining experience. Friendly staff provide excellent, allergen-aware service, making it a welcoming choice for those with dietary restrictions seeking delicious, thoughtfully prepared meals by the water.

Other people's food looked good but they have stopped doing any gluten-free options 🥺. Always used to enjoy eating there and was good.
Appears short sighted on behalf of the new owners.

Went there on a weekend as a stop during a bike ride as a group of 8 people. As they did not have a free large table, we asked if they could join two small ones, which initially refused to do and once seated on two separate tables, they agreed to join. The atmosphere was nice, but the service was really bad. We were served by a group of very young ladies who not only looked like they were there against their will, they really rushed us to get us out of the place. The plates were collected while one of us was still eating, Then we were asked to move to the bar areas so they could seat more guests. When we pointed this out between us, the young waitresses started laughing at us and saying between their teeth "bye bye bye" as we stood up and left. Food was overpriced for the quality - the cheapest salad costs £15 and amongst the entire menu they offered only two vegan dishes and one gluten free dish. Do not recommend.

We come here regularly for scones and tea, have been for twenty years, but I just wanted to write a review in particular for our afternoon tea we had a couple of weeks ago. The service and presentation were lovely, and their gluten free cream tea is really excellent (sometimes the gluten free scones are a bit tough, sometimes they’re soft and fluffy). The personnel were very good with our requests, and we enjoyed our afternoon tea on the plush green couches in the living room. Thank you!

The relaxed yet stylish atmosphere, complete with balcony views overlooking the marshes, creates a welcoming setting where guests can savor meals like grilled fish prepared without batter, tailored perfectly for gluten-free needs. Friendly staff enhance the experience by attentively catering to individual preferences, making it a go-to destination for non-coeliac gluten-free diners seeking both comfort and flavor.
