Upon arriving, we received a not very warm welcome which set a not nice tone for the evening. However, things quickly became a bit disappointing. When being seated, the host mentioned he saw the Resy notes indicating someone in our party was plant-based and gluten-free and asked if we’d like that menu. If it was already noted in the reservation, it would’ve made sense to have those menus ready at the table or automatically offered. Otherwise — what’s the point of specifying it ahead of time?
Our server, Mary, unfortunately wasn’t very knowledgeable about the plant-based, vegan, or gluten-free options. She seemed unsure of the menu, had to double-check multiple times, and lacked confidence in answering basic questions about ingredients and modifications. It’s frustrating as a guest when you take the time to add dietary preferences in advance specifically to avoid situations like this.
The veggie soup was far too salty and unenjoyable, though the eggplant parmesan was actually pretty good. The Saratoga still water isn’t a personal favorite and it was the only option, so I had to add several lemon wedges just to make it palatable.
The most disappointing moment was when I asked about plant-based desserts. Mary seemed confused by the request until my mom clarified by saying “vegan dessert,” which then prompted her to bring over a tray of pre-made dessert shooters to choose from. Honestly, that felt off-putting. Who knows how long those had been sitting out or how many tables they’d been to that night. It just wasn’t an appealing or thoughtful presentation, especially for a restaurant that prides itself on seasonal and fresh offerings.
The restaurant was nearly empty given it was the 4th of July, so it would’ve been an ideal opportunity for attentive service. I’m hoping this was just an off night, perhaps due to holiday staffing. I might give them another try on a regular evening to see if it was an isolated issue — but based on this visit, it definitely missed the mark.
Food is good. Glad they have gluten free bread.
Only one Jersey Mike's is showing they have gluten free bread in Moorestown. I usually go to mt laurel or Cinnaminson.
First place I've ordered a gluten free pizza from that didn't make me sick AND it was delicious! I like how it came on top of a piece of paper that that clearly looks baked as to not touch the surface of the pan. I can tell you made an effort not to cross contaminate which is where most restaurants fall short. Great sauce, a little more cheese on the margherita pizza next time!
I stumbled upon this hidden gem with some friends and I must say I have a new favourite restaurant. The Cubby Hole has such a cozy ambiance. Our waiter was very kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive. When we asked for recommendations, he gave us some great options based on our dietary restrictions. My friend got the veggie panini on gluten free bread. I had the overnight oats, which was a delicious vegan option. The excellent food and ambiance was topped off with phenomenal service and extremely kind staff. They were very hardworking, as it was very busy, and still took the time to be attentive and accommodating. Overall, I highly recommend this place!
Food is delicious and the waitstaff are all very kind and friendly! There are many gluten free and vegan options clearly marked on the menu. Will definitely come back! Thank you Leon G.!
Let me start off by saying, I love The Pie lady, their food is delicious. I am writing this to warn those with Celiac or gluten sensitivity to be very cautious. I came in this week with my mom for brunch. I ordered gf French toast, which I have ordered many times in the past without any problem. This week I happened to be sitting next to someone who is gluten sensitive at the next table, I have celiac. We struck up a conversation when we heard each other order the same gf French toast. Our orders were taken almost exactly at the same time and our food came out together together as well. After eating about half of one of the slices of French toast our server came to check on us and noticed that we both had our food. She stopped me from eating and said that there was no way that our food could come out at the same time because the portion of the grill that is dedicated to gf is too small, and that my food must be regular French toast. She went in to confirm with the chef and I was served regular French toast. I downed three glasses of water immediately tried to eat some of the gf French toast that they had given me as a replacement but started to get more and more sick. We ended up packing our food to go and leaving our drinks mid meal. The server was concerned and said that as a courtesy she would give me 50% off of my entree $7. I was sick and could not keep food down for two days. This is a minor compared to others I know who have more severe cases of celiac. I was very surprised that my meal was not comped all together and that there was no attempt to get my contact information to at minimum follow up to ensure I was ok. Celiac is super serious and I want to ensure everyone is safe. If ordering GF please have your server double check when your food arrives!
As someone with celiac disease since childhood, it has always been a challenge for me to find gluten-free pizza that actually tastes like the real thing. Mauricio's pizza is hands down the best gluten-free pizza I have ever had. The Arugula Parmesan is my favorite! In addition to the amazing food, Maurizio and the staff are incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Our server, Alyssa, was fantastic. I highly recommend this place!
I love the grilled shrimp salad. Although I spice mine up with their rasberry chipotle dressing. And it's gluten free. Awesome! The wait staff are friendly and the restaurant has a quiet ambiance.
My daughter has a gluten sensitivity, which makes going out challenging at times. Today was a total win: She got GF French toast, and it was delish. Portions are generously sized. Coffee is always so good. Jaime, our server, was attentive and awesome. Very lovely breakfast morning out.
Our meal got off to a little bit of a slow start, and I was concerned that my Autistic grandson might be a bit fussy because of this HOWEVER…
OH MY GAWSH BECKY the service turned out to be amazing, and the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD!
Now, I am Celiac and thus have learned to make just about any restaurant meal I could ever want, so I can almost never say “ it was better than my own home-made”, but this meal absolutely was!!! And every one of us agreed, this was possibly the best meal we had had in a decade.
Then the check came in, and it was more than reasonable! DO NOT SKIP THIS RESTAURANT, it is all kind Mrs of fabulous!!!!
We’ve ordered from here and keep coming back. Best gluten free quesadilla around, excellent gf pizza and they don’t gouge for gf.we also get regular sandwiches and pizza and wings. I can’t eat them but I hear they’re delicious.
