I don't usually enjoy grills and bars but on Sunday, June 30th, that all changed. I sat down, a gluten-free restaurantgoer fearful that there would be nothing I could eat without causing gastrointestinal distress. Upon seating, I was warmly greeted by my waitress, Kate, who navigated the gluten-free options on the menu for me with finesse and hospitality. Kate helped me order a delicious Cobb salad with no croutons and a lettuce wrap burger, and I was very pleased with the food. But I was even more pleased with the service, as she refilled my pink lemonade before I could even ask. Throughout the meal, she checked in on us frequently, making delightful small talk with our family, as we both are Slovak, and discussed our favorite Slovak delicacies. She also saved me from ordering pineapple upside down cake, as she warned me the cake was glutinous. I firmly encourage all Lortonites to head over to Hometown Grill and Bar, and ask for Kate, a great employee who deserves to be paid well!
