Fish and Chips, Smash Burger, and Desserts at Calo’s, North ArlingtonAt Calo’s (41B River Rd, North Arlington), the fish and chips boast flaky cod in crispy batter, paired with their house-made tartar sauce—tangy and fresh—alongside crunchy fries. The smash burger is a juicy, caramelized patty on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and Calo’s zesty house sauce, served with those same stellar fries. Both dishes showcase Calo’s comfort food prowess. For dessert, their homemade cheesecake was the best I’ve ever had, creamy and rich, and to my surprise, gluten-free. The brandy amaretto rice pudding was equally amazing, warm and subtly sweet with a delightful boozy kick. Cozy vibe, great value.
