34° North Restaurant

We were staying at the hotel for our anniversary and made a reservation for dinner. It was just ok. I am gluten free and when I asked about the shrimp and grits the server said “grits are not gluten free”. They most definitely are - Generally shrimp and grits are or can be made GF…it’s one of my regular go to orders. I didn’t want to have a big hassle about the food on our anniversary so I ordered a steak (without the sauce because she said it had gluten), med well and it was bleeding. Everything else was good, but it just didn’t feel very special and services was mediocre. I probably wouldn’t come back because the server was not educated on gluten. The server told me she would mark my gluten allergy well because the kitchen doesn’t always pay attention. I expected better service and care for the price.

Outstanding. A lovely restaurant with superb food, service, and ambience. It’s not cheap - this a very nice, “Down East”, on the water place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner with valet parking. On the a la carte dinner menu you’ll find seafood, steak, pork, chicken- a sort of Haute American Southern cuisine with lovely appetizers, salads, side dishes and desserts. There’s a full bar with multiple choices of single malt Scotch, or whatever your palate desires. There are Tawny Ports and all of the digestifs you’d expect with dessert. My wife and I had a lovely dinner here. A great experience.
