Abu Hilel

After a tour of the flowering Tel Katara and a stone clay workshop in Moshav Kidron we looked for a place close to lunch. Quite by chance, we "stumbled upon" a cool little home restaurant called Abu Hillel at 13 Ha'Hadezim St. in Gadara. We went in a little suspicious but left satiated and satisfied with the delicious and varied food prepared by chef Hezi, and Liat's dedicated service. I especially liked the vegan sweet potato patties in curry sauce (Hazi revealed to us the "secret" of the ingredients but we won't tell you so as not to steal his original recipe). My partner really enjoyed the couscous and vegetables which was delicious and seasoned to the right degree. Also the Abu Hillel salad which included vegetables in tahini sauce and hummus grains was seasoned to a more interesting degree than a normal banal vegetable salad. The design of the restaurant is simple and minimalistic and the dinnerware is vintage from the seventies. Most of the dishes are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and even those avoiding gluten. In summary: a culinary and cultural experience in an old-time home restaurant. Highly recommended!
