My wife was glutened at this place. She ordered the gluten free pasta. She generally has no trouble tolerating minor cross contamination in restaurants, so there was definitely a significant mistake made by the kitchen. We were here a few times before that without issue. Personally I thought the food was pretty mediocre - sauce is very sweet like an American pasta sauce and the pastas are crazily over sauced. The short rib pasta doesn’t have that meaty short rib flavor. Most troubling, they do a very poor job emulsifying the sauce with the pasta. There is a strange separation of the oils from the solids that is unpleasant. None of this would be Italian approved, but it also isn’t good red sauce Jersey food either. It’s just weird. Guys please - I know you know this food isn’t up to par. You do a much better job at San Matteo. Please have some dc pride and invest in this place. I know you do a good business regardless, but do it for city pride. Please. DC is becoming a tourist trap.
