Leslie Gluten Free Finds
One of the few places with a dedicated gf pizza oven. The pizza is great. They'll also make a gf "focaccia" using the pizza crust which is also delicious. They also have gf pasta.
Plenty of gluten free options and they were all amazing. If there is something you want that is not on the menu just ask and they will make something for you. Best Italian restraunt I've been to and can't wait to return. 10 stars!!
The food was very disappointing. We had the lasagna, the basil chicken pasta. The taste was mediocre, the gluten free pasta was good. The portions, especially the lasagna was ridiculously small. We got cocktail, something with ginger, lemon, honey that was flat and bland. The afogatto was also average.
The service was pretty good and the place was packed.
Under a medical recommendation I’ve decided to try a gluten free Margherita pizza, if you’re a celiac or gluten products may affect your health, 1st time doing so, it wasn’t bad but the taste is delicious although different which I can get use to it, the only issue that I found was that when ordering a Prosciutto topping it was very small and on the center for the most part instead of being spread out on the pie. The service was quick and good, real utensils and plenty of seating both inside and outside with 2 fire pits when it gets cold and a section for children so they can run and play.

I absolutely love this place! We were in DC on vacation for a week and I ate here almost every night. I always got gluten free pizzas here and they are delicious and the gluten-free crusts are easier to chew than other places I've tried and are a good flavor; you wouldn't know it was gluten free unless someone told you. They are extremely friendly and that also made me want to come back! When I come back to DC, I'll be back!! 🥰 Thanks for the pizza!
If you are on a gluten free diet, this restaurant is a real treat. This is the ONLY restaurant I know of in the entire DC area that offers gluten free French toast!!! It is really yummy. It is gluten free cinnamon raison bread that they make into French toast. It is served with maple syrup that has few slices of bananas in it. It is always served warm. (Be sure to look for the bananas. If the French toast is served with sliced strawberries, that is the wheat based French toast.)
This restaurant also has gluten free bread so most of their sandwiches can be made gluten free upon request. And they can make their eggs benedict gluten free by using their gluten free toast.
It is a very pleasant experience dining here. I usually dine outside. They are located on a small street in Georgetown. Georgetown can be crowded but on this small street, it is never very busy. On a nice weather day, it is a pleasant experience to eat the gluten free French toast while enjoying the weather.
The service is always good too. I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant.
The chocolate torte is so incredibly delicious! A must-order!
I am gluten free and they are very accommodating. The chocolate torte is gluten free, in addition to many of the pastas. We ordered the gluten free sausage and broccoli pasta, which was very good. The sausage is not spicy (which I like).
Filomena is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in DC. Everything about it is delightful - the food, the service, the ambiance. Decorations are always changing for the season and so fun. The burrata appetizer is seriously one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, and they have delicious gluten free pasta. Love, love, love!!
The interior could use a little updating - but the food was delicious. Got the bang bang gluten free pizza, pepperoni gluten free and a plain cheese pizza (non gluten free). All was delicious and the employees were friendly.
The reason I think this is an amazing restaurant, is because me my brother and sister and I all got kid’s menus, and all kids meals come with a ice cream ,but we only ordered two kids meals but since we have three kids they gave us three ice-creams. Also my sister is slightly allergic to gluten so when they gave us normal noodles 🍜 and my mom said that she really need gluten free, they still gave us gluten free noodles for free, and overall the decorations, staff, and food were just amazing.-Cyrus age 10

I had heard many good reviews and had wanted to try this restaurant for a while. The restaurant is a nice place to have dinner with friends, enjoy a date night, or have a drink at the bar by yourself. I really liked the ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant, and the service, food, and drinks were good. I also appreciated that they had many vegan and gluten-free options. Our waiter recommended the 40-layer lasagna, and it was good. I will definitely be back for drinks and to try other items on their menu.
I celebrated my 25th birthday at Sfoglina for dinner and was so glad I did.
We ordered the octopus and Caesar salad as starters. The octopus was incredibly flavorful with a hint of spice, but slightly overcooked. The Caesar salad was good, but nothing stand-out.
My 72- Hour Braised Beef Short Rib was delicious- perfectly tender meat with a flavorful and satisfying sauce. Dessert was the standout of the meal - a strawberry sorbet that rivals any sorbet I’ve had in Italy. I appreciate that the restaurant was careful to prepare food safe for my gluten allergy (Celiac).
In terms of parking, there is a parking garage adjacent to the restaurant, and the restaurant does validate parking.
Overall, I recommend Sfoglina for an upscale dinner or lunch with friends!
Thrilled to have a restaurant in DC that sources the highest quality food, which is sadly so rare in the U.S. Ordered 5 desserts for 4 people to celebrate my birthday and all were wonderful. Felt amazing afterwards - no crash or feeling crappy despite eating (unrefined) sugar. Sooo many delicious gluten-free dessert options. Amazing. And zero worries about seed oils. So relaxing and wholesome and delicious compared to the usual eating out options.
Late dinner and drinks with the family! Many gluten free options including a chocolate torte that was shared by three. Christian O was so friendly and made sure we were taken care of with allergy challenges!
We love Ledo's pizza on Georgia Ave. They have one server in particular that I want to call out, though I have since forgotten her name. She has been working there for app. 1.5 years and is a ray of sunshine. She has great rapport with my kids. The pizza itself is my family's favorite. They also have two different gluten free crust options.
Finally ate here this weekend and am so glad I did! They have amazing gluten free pasta and were able to make a few non gluten-free dishes into gluten free versions, which was very appreciated. Would highly recommend!
Loved this place. I did feel a little underdressed wearing a T-shirt and shorts after a long day of exploring DC/Arlington. They have a huge wine selection, so there's a good chance you'll find something you like. I got a bread basket that contained the best bread I've had after traveling from Boston to NYC to DC. Their house smoked salmon was an excellent starter. I got the salmon filet which was well balanced with the greens and potatoes. My gluten free girlfriend was very much excited when she received her carbonara that had gluten free spaghetti (not penne pasta like most places). My word to the wise is wear a collared shirt if it's convenient, but they won't judge either ways.
It’s our 5yr anniversary ..vacationing in DC looking for a restaurant to celebrate. We Choose Officina! We’ve eaten at many places. This restaurant is the most professional restaurant in service and food plus making us feel very special! Fi Fi the manager was so great!! Thank you! The calamari and salad were perfect along with the pasta with shrimp. Very clean and love the service and the food!! Vegan and Gluten free options! Prices are great too!! We will be back! We love this place! Bill and Janet Cummins!
Starting with the fact that I’m a gluten free person and while I been at several uncountable number of pizza places in the United States, this is still the best gluten free pizza I ever tried in more than a decade, and all and every single staff member are amazing.
My fiancé and I had an Amazing time celebrating Valentine’s Day here!! Our server, Maria, was VERY kind, super attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu!
She was able to offer amazing recommendations, and tell us about the gluten-free options. My fiancé had the gluten-free fettuccine alfredo with added grilled chicken, and it was the best gluten-free pasta she’d ever had! Admittedly, I also tried it and it was IMMACULATE!! I had the Pappardelle with Ragu Sauce and it was DELICIOUS! The Buffalo Mozzarella was something we’d recommend to ANYBODY, and the smoked Prosciutto was another thing we won’t pass up on our next visit! Great wine choices, and the Romeo and Juliet cocktails created for Valentine’s Day were both very tasty! I was able to sit at the bar before my date showed up, and Oscar made me a few drinks. They were PERFECT! Can’t wait to visit Sfoglina again!
Mohamed was the best server and when it poured rain he ensured we weee safe and dry
Went above and beyond

Wow. Don’t quite know what else to say. The kind of place that just makes you happy- great service and great food in a great environment. My wife eats gluten free, and I always feel like she has to give up taste, or make do with less, to get a gluten free option.
Until tonight. Started out when there wasn’t just bread for the gluten eaters at the table— but a separate plate of gluten free bread for my wife! And it was good! Theme continued with t he Menu. There isn’t a gluten free menu, but you order what you want, waitress verifies with kitchen they can do it gluten free, and out comes dinner. And the entrees were amazing. My chicken parm reminded me of my childhood. Wife’s pasta (sorry can’t recall what it was) was equally delicious with just a hint of spice. Ditto for my son’s pasta. My wife is 1/2 Italian, and a phenomenal cook. I rarely go out for Italian, bc it’s never on par with what my wife makes.
Carusos? It wasn’t just on par, it was totally worth the traffic we faced getting there. We will be back. For yummy food, whether gluten-full or gluten free. You can see by the photo all the bowls are empty. Stop living vicariously thru this review… check out carusos yourself !
One of the most unique and delicious Italian foods in DC. It’s pinsa (light pizza) or like a open sandwich. They bring all ingredients from italy including flour and meats. My wife is gluten free in the US, but the flour from Europe does not bother her, so it’s really nice to have a spot to enjoy pinsa together without worrying about allergies. Chef Angelina and Chef Fabrizio are the best. They work hours and hours in the kitchen themselves to make sure serving their guests the highest quality. We are so lucky that they moved here near us and started this awesome restaurant.
Great service and outstanding food. I had the grilled fish and my colleague had shrimp and a salad. Both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. They also went out of their way to ensure that my meal was gluten free. Flavorful and gluten free is a rare combination. I’m going to need to go back, so that I can try the other dishes.
We were a party of three with one party member having vegan/gluten free dietary restrictions (I called ahead to advise). Everyone has an exceptional experience...food, service, and ambiance. My companion with dietary had an eggplant dish and my other companion had the smoked salmon and scrambled egg dish (both parties want to return for more). We will be back... thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Cheers!

K.K.
They are very accommodating. We told them we are pescatarian and gluten sensitive. We ordered the five course traditional tasting meal. Every dish tastes wonderful, particularly the gnocchi and the sea bream. Service is awesome. Waitor makes good recommendations. The hazelnut gelato dessert is a must have. Just make sure you are hungry. We were so full and satisfied by the end of the meal.
Grazie Nonna was, unfortunately, the most disappointing dining experience I had in the DC area. While our waiter was polite, he was largely inattentive throughout the meal — only becoming attentive when it was time to settle the bill.
The service was inefficient and frustrating. Our food took far too long to arrive, and about 30 minutes after placing my order, I was informed that there were no gluten-free options available. I declined to reorder, yet ten minutes later, the original dish I requested was brought out anyway. This level of miscommunication and disregard is unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber.
The atmosphere also left much to be desired — the space was uncomfortably loud, making conversation difficult, and the dim lighting only added to the overall discomfort. Additionally, I was not allowed to pay solely for my meal and my child’s; instead, the bill had to be split evenly among the entire party. As a result, the server’s tip was disproportionately high given the poor service, which I ultimately adjusted for the group.
It’s disappointing to leave a restaurant feeling let down, especially when I had high hopes for the experience. Sadly, I would not return to or recommend Grazie Nonna.

This is an excellent restaurant!! Wonderful staff, bright/fun atmosphere, delicious food. I got salad and pizza. And I have plenty for tomorrow's lunch or breakfast!! They are also very attentive and paid attention to allergy/dietary restrictions. This goes a long way for anyone but especially my family (sister is gluten free). Major props!
I definitely recommend!!
This place consistently blows me away - it’s prices are totally reasonable (especially their wine menu!) and their pasta is excellent. They also cater to gluten free which is such a relief for those of us with dietary restrictions. And the staff is always friendly and accommodating!

Nice place but above all excellent Italian cuisine, starters, first courses, second courses and desserts, all delicious and done as it should. The wine list is decent, prices not exactly cheap but adequate for the category of the place. Pasta also gluten free. In good weather some outdoor tables are available.
Their chicken alfredo sauce is good, and they have a gluten-free penne arrabiata option in the menu. Our server was talkative and attentive. And they are open late.
So authentic and yummy!! The servers accent made this place so warm and friendly! So many yummy dishes to choose from. They have gluten free pasta! And save room for dessert!!
