A big sign inside the store said "Let food be your medicine" thought I was in for a healthy treat ... But...Not quite.
It was two days ago that I went there for a decaf coffee and hoped to get some 'healthy' savory pastry to snack on. Sadly, all they had were just a couple of very small packets of roasted almond and shelves full of sweet cookies and sourdough dry toast which are in really big packet.
I did notice they had a packet of salad on their cooling cabinet but I was looking for a snack to go with my coffee, therefore, I settled for the only pastries they seem to be selling, ie a packet of two sweet donuts.
I was happy to see the donut was gluten free, although I was aware that it was sweet, I was hoping this healthy store would make the donut much less sweet since they said let food be your medicine.
Unfortunately, the donuts was literally loaded with sugar. Every single bite was just granules of sugars that I could hardly find flour in it. Horrible. Horrible. I was so irritated, I hate hate eating plain sugar. How could this be medicine.
However, the coffee which was really good. I enjoyed very much.
They do have a lot of healthy juice drink but I didn't try especially alrwady had the donut.
I would still come back for the coffee but hope they will make some savory pastry/donuts and cut out 99% sugar in their donuts and using stevia instead would be a healthier substitute.
I have raised my rating to 4 star as the staff was really friendly and the place is nice and clean.
Noted from the business owner response that they did not take my review well. Yes, I know donuts in general are sweet and in fact it is one of my sweet vice but my point is that I thought a health food store would make it less sweet but it turned out to be much sweeter than I could get elsewhere like Krispy Kreme.
Please it would be great if the owner could take this review constructively. I have said in my comment that the coffee was good, I have said I would even go back and your store have gotten many 5 stars reviews for your juice etc. I don't see how my comment would damage your business if you take this positively. I have indeed told one of your staff that the donuts were too sweet for me and she said that was how the store made it.
Every business have room for improvement but if you think I as a customer, my comment is not worthy, then please ignore. Thank you.
