Alma Lobster Shop

I was pleased to see that gluten free options were clearly marked "GF" on the menu and I was excited to try the seafood chowder. I asked the waiter for the seafood chowder, and noted that I needed it gluten free. The response what that the chowder itself is not gluten free. The "GF" on the menu means that it can be served with a gluten free bread instead of a regular bun. I opted for the gluten free lobster roll. I asked if the fries were gluten free and was told "No, you have to have the salad!" I give them full marks for being open and honest, but suggest that the menu be made more clear. Another person in our group had the regular lobster roll. The difference in the two servings was remarkable. The gluten free bread is much smaller than the gluten bun and so you also get much less lobster. It had hardly any lobster flavour but plenty of celery. I was very sorry that we stopped here for dinner. If you have issues with gluten and you are in Alma there is at least one much better choice than the Alma Lobster Shop! People with gluten intolerance or celiac disease do their research! This is why I wanted to be very clear in this review. That said, the people in the seafood and art shop portion of the business were amazing! Definitely go in and take a look at the shop!

Food was really good, but expensive gluten free options made me not want to go back.

Gluten free lobster rolls! Yay! They have many gluten free options and the food is delicious, service was great, and eating lobster anywhere but the ocean is definitely not as good. The side portions are large and delicious. And they have Good lemonade too.
