Our second visit to Atelier des Faures: again, it was our most memorable meal in Bordeaux in June 2023, as it was in June 2022. The food was elegant, surprising, and complex; the setting was relaxed yet attentive; the welcome was warm and welcoming. This is cooking of a very high standard, which can accommodate all tastes, from vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, and coeliac to omnivores. The staff were keen to explain the dishes with knowledge and enthusiasm, and we were delighted to meet the chef in person, who took the time to explain his passion and showed us a new way to cook oysters. The menu invites you to choose four or five plates (or fewer if you prefer) and they were all stylish and moreish: this is food which is a feast for the eyes, but also involves complex flavours in harmony. I don't want to spoil the surprises in the dishes so I won't say too much. This is food which will make you excited about food again. We will definitely be back on our next visit.
