Bandana's Bar-B-Q St. Joseph

I travel for work and am so excited when a Bandana's is on my route because I have celiac disease. Fortunately, I get to occasionally get to stay at the Drury Inn at St Joseph, MO which is next door to this Bandana's. And, you get a discount at this restaurant while staying at the hotel. They have the best food, and it's consistent across the brand. The staff is always super midwest friendly and they are respectful and take the proper precautions with food allergies. If you're not real hungry (or don't have a lot of cash to spend on a meal) get the budget busters. I prefer the ribs, but I've never had a bad meal here. I loved Bandanas before I had this allergy. It's just great food.

The food was not great. The meat was too fatty. The coleslaw was too soupy. However, the sauces were good. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and they seemed to take gluten restrictions very seriously. They had a seperate menu and said they would change their gloves. They were upfront about using a shared fryer so clearly aware of cross contamination. Still, we probably won't go back because of the disappointing food.

We googled this place on the road trying to find a Gluten-free option. When we arrived we were informed they were out of basically every meat option and did not have anything Gluten-free.
