Beaufort Grocery

The Beaufort Grocery is five star in every area. The food was beyond amazing. Our server was so attentive to every detail. The atmosphere was perfect. Reservations are recommended. As a side note, I am gluten free and he menu was clearly marked, the waitress knowledgeable and one of the managers has celiac. Highly recommended. Someone bought mom and pops breakfast place and turned it into another overpriced restaurant. I have a few bad things to say about this place, but I suppose I should start with the food. My husband and I are both celiac, we are used to restaurants not being able to accommodate us, and we always call before hand, ask if they can accommodate and ask if reservations are needed. We were told that yes they could accommodate, the manager even had celiac, and we did not need reservations. So we showed up at 5:30, right when they opened to make things easier for them. We ordered the fruit and cheese appetizer, soup, lamb and seared tuna. And we got ‘glutened’ as us celiacs call it. We have been to many restaurants before that take great care when they say they can accommodate allergies, this was not one of those restaurants. On top of getting glutened, the seared tuna was horribly paired with a chili yogurt sauce, my husbands lamb was ordered medium, and every slice was cooked differently (rare, med rare, med, well done) and it had a very strange blend of flavors to ‘compliment’ it. Chili sauce, mint, cheese, and capers. Also, I don’t think they could fit more tables in there if they tried. It quickly filled up after we arrived at 5:30, and by 6:15pm we had to squeeze our way out of the restaurant after paying the bill. We asked for the bill and left in a hurry after the woman seated at the very close (2 ft away) table next to us said ‘do you know what it smells like in here? Vomit’

We've been visiting Beaufort Grocery annually for probably 10 years or so. We've always had friendly service, amazing food, all within a great, relaxing atmosphere. For starters, we HIGHLY recommend the saganaki...OPA! It is life-changing! Also, crab and lobster dip, along with the spinach dip. Both of the dips can be made gluten free. Ask the server about gluten free options, as they have many. Any of the Entrees, you will not be disappointed. We've had almost all of them. Filet, duck, all the fish, scallops...all of amazing! All Entrees come with soup or salad, and I recommend the white balsamic vinaigrette. YUMMY!! If you have room for dessert (or just take it with you), the Bumpy cake, pecan pie, apple pie, and cheesecake have all been solid choices. Have a cup of coffee with it, as they have their own fresh ground coffee, and it's delicious! Shirts, hats, and a cookbook is available for purchase. As well as the delicious coffee! You will NOT regret a stop here for a fantastic meal!
