Had afternoon tea, two versions one for me and a gluten free version for my other half, the food was very good apart from the gluten free scone, but they replaced it with an alternative option

Lovely place. Does live up to its hype for tourists and also a nice place for a special occasion. Food was fantastic and the service was very good. One of us had the non-gluten set and all of it tasted exactly like the regular set - which is a rare find! One note which was super odd but it happened thrice on our visit - if they didn’t have an item (upon first order or on replenishment order) they would bring something out in place but wouldn’t explain that was the case; just the new item until we’d ask/clarify our order in case they had misheard (it happens of course!) then they’d respond with “oh we actually ran out of X so that’s why we brought out Y”. Again nothing bad but it was odd it happened 3 times during our visit! Caused a few instances of confusion. But all in all great experience!

Loved everything about it. Catered well for Gluten free. Best poached eggs I’ve had. All food delicious. Staff all extremely helpful and friendly. I loved the traditional uniform and silver service. Lovely selection of teas. If you want a traditional, old fashioned high tea, this is the place to go
