Beyond Cafe

Beyond Cafe is a really special place providing old world charm and an environment conducive to socializing with friends and family.  I have been a customer for quite some time having experienced various lunches, many lattes and desserts.  Never has the food disappointed me.  It is always served fresh and lunches are presented colourfully adorned with culinary skill and flavour.  Service is always met with a cheerful greeting and suggestions if you are not sure what you would like to order. For those with food sensitivities, there are amazing gluten free desserts, and you have the option to select oat or almond milk instead of dairy for your beverages. Yesterday afternoon, I arrived to discover that the owners of Beyond Cafe had made the decision to ban laptop and tablet use from their cafe.  I was thrilled! I realize that there will be some customers out there who are angry about this decision because they have used Beyond Cafe as their work and study space while occasionally enjoying a beverage and/or food.  Unfortunately, there were some who did not purchase anything and/or felt comfortable taking up a seat for significant periods of time. The decision to ban these devices from cafes is one that presents significant challenges to business owners and is not taken lightly.  It can frankly be a no win situation depending on which side of the fence you sit on. In a society where we are attached to the hip with our devices, it has become the norm to simply sign on and work from anywhere.  Unfortunately, the ability to do so is often taken for granted without understanding or acknowledging the full impact that it can have on a business and its customers. For all the customers who may have given up trying to get a table in this gem of a cafe (I was almost one of them), I encourage you to give it another try.  There will most definitely be times when it is very busy and full. Beyond Cafe has a following and you may need to wait for a table or take-out if you are short on time. What truly stands out about this cafe is the feeling of coming home, cocooned in the warmth of the space, the people, and the opportunity to connect one-on-one.  Give yourself the opportunity to take a deep breath, disconnect from the digital world, and just enjoy everything this cafe has to offer. I applaud the owners of Beyond Cafe for their difficult decision and will continue to support and enjoy every tasty mouthful!

Lovely cafe with great service. Gluten free and Vegan options available. Love the old fashion uniforms, adds to the charm. Their specialty latte is delicious.

Wow! I'm not normally a big of going to coffee shops, but this place blew our minds! First... the coffee is REALLY good. To our delight, they had Lactose Free milk, soy milk, etc, and tons of Gluten Free-Dairy Free deserts... Delicious!! Plus... they have lunch options - had the most amazing Artichoke salad. Decor, atmosphere and service +++
