A must-try in Ottawa! This Thai gem in ByWard Market is a bit pricey, but everything is fantastic: delicious food, lovely atmosphere, and friendly service. Plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian and vegan options, including coconut milk curries. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Chop, give yourselves a pat on the back. You nailed our dining experience last night. Where do I begin? My partner has celiac disease. She has a severe allergy to gluten and wheat. Consuming even the smallest bit of it can send her to hospital. When we advised our server, Sarah M of this, she assured us that they would take every precaution to ensure my partner's health and safety. We didn't know what we were in store for though. Rewind. We went to Chop during their Happy Hour where they have discounted drinks and food. We were seat ed about 5 minutes before Happy Hour ends. When we told Sarah we wanted some Happy Hour drinks, she offered to load in multiple drink order before the cutoff time and then she would just fill the orders and bring them when we needed our next drink. We ordered 2 glass of wine each. Sarah brought the first round promptly. We also ordered the chili garlic shrimp appetizer from the Happy Hour menu. This dish comes with a piece of bread and we asked to omit the bread to keep the dish gluten-safe. We also put in our entrée orders at that time. Another server, who we later learned was named Hannah (or Hanna) brought our appetizer and was very specific to tell us that it was gluten-free. Much to our surprise, they added a gluten-free bun to the dish to replace the ciabatta bread that the dish usually comes with. Fast forward. Entrées arrive. They were great. Again, Hanna(h) delivered them and noted that the kitchen was very particular about knowing of my partner's gluten allergy. On one of our usual server, Sarah's, returns to our table, we learned that Sarah was not even allowed to bring our food orders to our table because she was handling other people's food. They designated Hanna(h) to deliver our food in order to ensure my partner didn't accidentally come into contact with gluten. WE HAVE NEVER SEEN A RESTAURANT DO THIS! We were very very impressed. So much so, that we felt compelled to chat with a manager after we paid our bill to express how phenomenal of an experience we had. We will return to Chop. Next time, we'll arrive earlier to take more advantage of the Happy Hour discounts. We can only hope that we have Sarah and Hanna(h) serve us again.

My partner and I tried masala trail for the first time and both of us are gluten free in our reservation they let us know ahead of time they had many options, and they did! We were very happy with the selection and the food was fantastic. Our server Moe was very helpful! We will be returning

My partner and I came after hearing Coconut Lagoon was even better than Thali. We left agreeing, and we already felt Thali had set a high benchmark. I’m vegetarian and my partner requires Gluten Free dishes. We requested the 7-course Chef’s sampling with the wine pairing. We did not leave disappointed. The restaurant was able to cater to our dietary restrictions and provide us with an incredible unique dish for each serving. The portion sizes were perfect, the variety was fantastic and the flavours were so rich and distinct. One of the best dining experiences we’ve had for people who already hold high standards. What a treat.

I liked this restaurant enough that I would definitely go back. The wine list is interesting, and they have a robust NA menu. I had the plant based 'meat' balls and I enjoyed my food, and the portion size was large enough for a meal. I would like to come back here again and try the small plates instead. It was a little pricey: two glasses of wine, a plate of meatless balls, and a dessert came to just over 100 dollars with tip for one person, so I would say coming here is more of a treat. Definitely check it out if you want to try some tasty plant based food options! They also seem to have extensive gluten free options on their menu.

A cozy spot tucked away in a residential street. Delicious tacos, great service and awesome patio in the warmer months. Tacos are made with corn tortillas (gluten free) and dairy free options are available as well!

Late night cravings met the perfect match here. The smoothies are spot on, blending taste with health in every sip. Waffles and crepes aren't just your regular fare; Belgian chocolate really ups the game. And for those watching their diet, the vegan and gluten-free options don't disappoint. I have been ordering here for years. I am gluten free and always get the rare beef pho, it is always delicious and fresh as well as being gluten free and safe for me to eat. The staff are amazing and helpful, I recommend this restaurant to everyone I know.

Went for dinner. Service at front door excellent but then our waitress was not great. We saw her 10 minutes after we were seated. Then the front door greeter brought us our food and offered to refill our drinks as they were empty. She then dropped by to ask quickly if we needed salt or pepper. Then left again not leaving time for us to say anything till we needed our bill. The steak I ordered was overcooked I asked for medium rare and received medium to medium well depending on the part of the steak. My husband had the Hamburger which he enjoyed. We were not asked how the food was so I was unable to advise that the steak was overcooked. They did have a fair amount of gluten free options which I was thankful for.

I recently hosted a surprise party for my mom at this restaurant, and I can't say enough about how wonderful the experience was! The service was top-notch, and the food was absolutely delicious. The canapés were perfectly timed, and the bottle of bubbly was ready as soon as my mom arrived. A special shoutout to Maddie, our server, who went above and beyond. She spoke French fluently, which was a huge plus for our francophone guests. Maddie treated us like family, ensured that our gluten-intolerant guests had the right food, and even served my mom’s wine in a special glass she had for her 60th birthday. When my mom accidentally left the glass behind, Maddie kept it safe until she could come back for it. Everything was just perfect. A big thank you to the team for making the event so memorable!

The star of the menu here is the dosa—a gluten-free, crispy crepe made from lentils and rice that you don’t see nearly enough at Canadian Indian restaurants. Portions are generous and everything we tried was delicious, so definitely come hungry. Our server, Anu, was attentive and incredibly sweet. Highly recommend this spot.

Probably my favourite place to eat at in Ottawa! I highly recommend the Piri Piri bowl, it’s full of flavour and my whole family loves it too. I’ve been getting it for 3 years now and my favourite thing about Mad Radish are the various healthy options. Not to mention the friendly service, Brian was amazing and helped my family and me with such great customer service! Don’t forget to get a chocolate chip cookie, those are my favourite cookies ever and are gluten free! Mad Radish is truly such a gem to have in Ottawa.
