As someone with celiac disease, I rely heavily on safe dining recommendations. This restaurant was listed as gluten-free friendly, and while the food was good and safely prepared, the billing practices were deceptive and unacceptable. The owner, who is also the cook, told us our total was $87—but we were charged $105.01. No explanation, no receipt, and no mention of a 20% gratuity. When we called back, he was extremely rude and dismissive, claiming there’s a “disclaimer” on the menu. We never saw one, and more importantly, we were never given a bill, which is a violation of Florida Statute 509.214, which requires that any automatic gratuity be disclosed on both the menu and the bill. This isn’t just poor service—it feels dishonest. If you choose to eat here, demand a printed bill and review it before paying. You may be charged more than you were told—and if you question it, don’t expect civility. We won’t be returning, and others should be cautious.
