NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE WITH EATING PROBLEMS
Yesterday I went to dinner with my partner and my friend.
I told the waitress that I had celiac disease and that they should please prepare the Caesar salad gluten-free as it was in the gluten-free option on the menu. She assures me that modifications were made, period.
I have to say that we made a reservation at 10:30 p.m. and the waiter told us that that was wrong. That they had to change it...
I say this because, many times, in the kitchen you don't know what they are going to do and I don't know if the cook did it out of spite, to annoy or what... I will explain this later.
Well, the Caesar salad comes with a lot of cheese and a lot of Caesar sauce. When I start to taste it I realize that they had added croutons. PURE BREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I had already eaten!!
My partner and I got up to ask if they were gluten-free croutons or what had happened and the cook assured us superbly that no, they were normal…
I told him, crying, that I was celiac and that this was going to mess up my stomach now.
To my surprise, I find a cook who claims that nothing would happen if he had eaten 5-6 croutons.
My partner started a fight with him and told him that if something happened to me he was going to go and tell him because he didn't understand that lack of professionalism.
To which the cook responds that he should be calm, that he was going to go and explain it to his colleagues!!!!!
After all THREATS!
Here in Salamanca there is a lack of quality gluten-free places... eating out is a risk.
Especially because in restaurants that specify that they are gluten-free, they do not have competent people who take into account people's allergies and dietary problems.
If you are celiac or have any dietary restrictions and cannot tolerate even cross contamination, this is NOT your place. Because if they have people who literally put bread in a gluten-free meal... imagine the traces... how do you trust them????
They have little specialized kitchen staff.
Obviously the claim form is in place and everything that comes after will already be effective.
TO NO ONE'S SURPRISE I ENDED UP IN THE HOSPITAL
This is serious.
Any dietary problem is serious... whether it is extremely serious, such as nuts, or any food intolerance/allergy.
You can give a very bad time to a person who is trusting in the restaurant's service.
If you are celiac... I do not recommend the site.
Whether it is because of the rush of wanting to close, because of the cook's inattention or because the cook does not “believe” that this is important; A person has gone to the hospital for food poisoning...
Let the restaurant in particular make it known!!!!!
A slight mistake due to haste, poor food management or lack of professionalism on the part of your cooks can cause something very big.
That's why I mentioned earlier that they let us reserve for 10:30 p.m. when, in fact, the kitchen closes at that time on Mondays.
On the website that is not specified; That's why the same website let us book.
And you don't know if it was the cook's anger and he wanted to bother or malpractice due to ignorance of what it means to poison someone with gluten.
In any case... TOTAL INCOMPETENCE OF THE COOKS ON THE SHIFT OF 04/21/2025 at night.
I attached a photo of the salad
