To be honest, neither me nor my partner are vegan/vegetarian. I’ve recently been on the hunt for a restaurant that can accommodate a gluten intolerance & actually still allow for some menu exploration. I didn’t have a reaction from anything I ate here. For context, however, I’m gluten intolerant & not celiac so your experience may vary.
We came to Burrowing Owl on our anniversary a few days ago. It was such a great experience, our server was awesome, & the food was great! Really nice inviting ambiance, and not a huge rush to get you out of your table for the next guest after you finish. There was a comprehensive allergy menu available that specified what I could order GF. & There were VERY few recipes on their menu that couldn’t be made gluten free. I had the gluten free Philly Mac & my partner did a gluten free breakfast burrito. Both were stellar! And yes, if they told me the pasta was real I would have almost believed them. It wasn’t that nasty soggy stuff, if you know you know. Good quality GF tortilla too on the breakfast burrito. My partner isn’t even GF, and he enjoyed it as well. The cashew queso is incredibly delicious, highly recommend! Drinks were also great (they had GF beer too!) & for the love of god, get the GF carrot cake. 1000/10.
If you’ve never had vegan food, do know that the meat substitutes are not gonna be the same as the “real thing”, & they are actually quite good! Just think of them as their own, different thing. But anyways, this place rocks for being able to go out to a restaurant and order pretty much anything I want, just like anyone else would! Lovely, 10/10, no criticism.
