Very highly recommended. This place is definitely off the beaten path for most New Yorkers, but it's worth the trip and if you're lucky enough to live in the neighborhood then you should be a regular. This is my wife and my favorite date spot.
Our first visit was on valentines day, without a reservation. The dining room was full but we were seated quickly at the breakfast bar overlooking the kitchen. It was perfect. The homey atmosphere, the funky French playlist, listening to the interactions between Chef Phillipe and Charlene (the maître d'), and the food. We've been coming back regularly since then.
I've never had a bad meal here, but my favorites are the French onion soup, the aged goat cheese, pear and honey crepe, and the croque monsieur. Additionally my father has celiac disease, so eating out can be a real challenge for him. When my parents came to visit Chef Phillipe served us all a great dinner and he had no ill effects afterwards. All the crepes are made with buckwheat flour so they're naturally gluten free.
