My husband really wanted to try this place after looking at all of the Ironbound restaurants.
Their gluten free selection was small but we still ordered plenty of food.. I wasn't expecting all of the food to have the exact same flavor profile and be underseasoned. Our original waiter was fantastic with us, but the other had no clue. The chicken pimento, pulpo and the pork all tasted the exact same underseasoned with strong notes of pimento pepper. These dishes were relatively disappointing for how expensive these tapas are.
While the pulpo was succulent the blackened grilled areas were soggy? No crunch no grill flavor and were only made palatable with a large dose of lemon and salt. The only highlight flavor wise was the lamb special but that still missed the mark on texture as it was mostly a gelatinous mass. The scallops were okay but definitely sub par for the hype. Tuna was flavorful but the honey mustard made the dish sad.
One of the rare occasions we have the chance to eat at a restaurant especially for his birthday and it was a sorry disappointment unfortunately... He did mention that the highlight for him was the 1906 beer and that the bread was delicious.
