Chin chin used to be GOAT status of fast affordable and delicious Chinese food, back in the day, 90’s-2000’s. I’m referring specifically to the one that used to be in midtown. The other two extensions, one in west midtown off Howell mill ( recently closed) and the one in Roswell (still open) I think tries to reclaim their former glory status but for some odd reason just not able to. The faux meat dishes ? Clearly frozen balls of gluten deep fried and covered in cloyingly sweet syrup no other flavors.., the walnut shrimp? Same thing.. any thing that says lightly battered won’t be.. If you are looking for Chinese food, reasonably priced, large portions and maybe they execute well on some items ( chicken dishes) then it’s a good deal, just not what it used to be. Sometimes I think restaurants fail because they offer these huge menus with a variety of items ( Thai , sushi , Japanese options) and in the end just being the master of none. For chin chin I hope they Just hunker down , go back to their roots, and execute on the items that you do well, your original claim to fame. I hope they last. They used to be phenomenal.
