Our recent school trip to Chocosol was an absolutely delightful and incredibly educational experience! From the moment we stepped into their space, the passion for sustainable, ethically sourced chocolate was palpable. It wasn't just a tour; it was an immersive journey into the world of truly conscious consumption. The atmosphere itself felt warm and inviting, truly reflecting the wholesome values they champion, making it a perfect environment for students to learn and engage. What truly sets Chocosol apart is their unwavering commitment to eco-friendliness, which resonated deeply with our students. Learning about their direct-trade relationships with Indigenous communities, ensuring fair wages and sustainable farming practices, was eye-opening. We saw firsthand their minimal-waste approach, from the cacao bean to the finished bar, and understood their dedication to ecological preservation. It's inspiring to see a business thrive not just on delicious products, but on a foundation of respect for people and the planet. The highlight for many of us was witnessing the traditional stone-grinding process. This ancient technique, powered by pedal bikes, not only showcased their dedication to low-impact production but also created an incredibly unique and flavourful chocolate. It was fascinating to see how the beans were transformed into rich, unadulterated chocolate right before our eyes, retaining all their natural goodness. This hands-on demonstration truly brought the bean-to-bar philosophy to life for everyone. Of course, no chocolate trip is complete without tasting, and Chocosol did not disappoint! Their array of dark chocolates, each with distinct flavour profiles, was a revelation. From rich and robust to subtle and fruity, every sample was a testament to the quality of their cacao and the artistry of their process. Knowing that we were enjoying chocolate that was not only incredibly delicious but also made without dairy, gluten, or soy, using only the purest ingredients, added another layer of appreciation. In conclusion, Chocosol is far more than just a chocolate shop; it's a model for ethical business and sustainable living. Our school trip provided invaluable lessons on global citizenship, environmental responsibility, and the true meaning of craft. We left with not only a newfound appreciation for chocolate but also a profound respect for the dedicated individuals behind Chocosol's mission. We highly recommend Chocosol for anyone seeking an authentic, delicious, and deeply conscientious chocolate experience – especially for educational outings!
O
I love chocolates and this is some of the best artisanal chocolate I've had. Gluten free and dairy free and free of most common allergens. Crafted from bean to bar onsite. Fantastic bars and really good sipping chocolate too. A must if you like good chocolate!!!

ChocoSol: chocolate/sun. My love for this place burns like the ardent Mayan sun. It is, hands down, my favourite hot chocolate in Toronto -- rich, deep, creamy, stimulating, aromatic, plentiful, ethical -- in one word, fabulous. The happy and efficient baristas, the convenient and homey upstairs seating area, the bean-to-bar business model -- these all contribute to the excellence of ChocoSol, but honestly, the quality and taste of the chocolate alone speaks for itself. Keep in mind that although there is a small counter with stools on the main floor, the more spacey upstairs area is not fully accessible (stairs only). I recommend the hot chocolate with chili, or the mocha with chili, if you're really looking for a drink that packs a punch and wakes you up. According to the signage in the shop, cocoa has several medicinal properties, including increasing blood flow. Today, I tried the chocolate cookie, which is vegan and gluten-free, and made with black beans. Loved it. The Jaguar chocolate bars are awesome, too. I still don't understand how they get their dairy-free chocolate bars to taste so creamy... a pleasant mystery. The prices for their hot drinks are on par with or cheaper than Starbucks, and the quality is better as they roast and grind their own high-quality coffee beans, and they produce their own cocoa. I wholeheartedly recommend this place: tens tens tens across the board!
