Egan & Sons

My boyfriend and I went to Egan and Sons today for a mid-afternoon bite. It took 15 minutes for a server to even get to our table to take our order. When the server finally got to our table we ordered our food and asked for one soda for my boyfriend. It took forever to get the soda and I had to flag down the server to remind him. My boyfriend ordered a gluten-free bar pie and I ordered cider glazed grilled salmon with new potatoes and butternut squash. The butternut squash is made with apples and pumpkin seeds. When I ordered I specifically asked for the apples to be removed. Apparently there was some confusion because instead of the apples being removed they didn't give me the butternut squash at all. When the food came to the table my food was delivered well in advance of my boyfriend's. It was very awkward to eat without my boyfriend having his food. They should have accounted for the fact that the pizza would take a little bit longer to make and should have served everything at once. When the server came to the table after my meal was provided I had asked where the squash was and he said that I didn't order it when I actually did so I just ordered some steamed cauliflower on the side. That took a long time to get as well. When I went to eat the cauliflower it was too raw to eat as it wasn't steamed long enough. During our meal our server never checked up on us. As soon as we asked for the check he was very prompt with that. Sure, MIA for the meal, but when you want our money you are quick. My salmon was pretty good but the potatoes and the cauliflower were not good. My poor boyfriend got very sick as soon as we got home and that was the only food he had all afternoon, so it could not have been caused by anything else. The food must have been contaminated by something that was not gluten free. All in all it was a very underwhelming and upsetting experience and we will not be returning. It's sad because I had it on my bucket list to try as it was well rated according to Google.

Not sure if its because of covid or worker shortages but everything is self order and pay on a smartphone. You do not have a server to ask questions and only a runner brings you your food and drinks. This made it feel kinda like a fast food restaurant, think shake shack. I went with one other person who had questions about gluten free options and what was actually in the cocktails, but there was noone to ask. Not for us.
