Formosa Bao

Amazing find. We were in town for the weekend and looking for something fun and gluten free for the family. This was my kids first time having Bao and we all loved it. Great family place with great food and service. Wish we lived closer and could eat there more often.

best place have asian cuisine around ocean park, such a sweet family who operates it, you can tell they really care about their job and their customers! i got the beef soup, tea eggs, yaki soba noodles, sweet and sour soup, vegetable bao, and a tofu skewer, and they were all amazingly delicious! the owner was very generous and also gave me a Nutella bao bun, and oh my gosh it was fantastic! i met a person in line while i was waiting for my order who is a regular and they told me that they were gluten free and they loved all of the gluten free bao options. the sweet and sour soup is also totally vegetarian, and i’m pretty sure vegan! similarly to a lot of places in the area it’s a small space inside with a long table inside and a picnic table outside, so takeout might be the best option if you have a very large group! there are a lot of places outside around ocean park where you can find a table to eat at though so i really don’t see it as a downside! overall amazing options for everyone, something for everyone in the family (even your grandpa who doesn’t really like asian food!) they completely deserve the 4.9 stars they have gained here, will be coming back every time i am in the area! thank you so much formosa bao for the amazing meal ❤️

We just moved to the area and were looking for a place close by for lunch. The food at this place was amazing! We enjoyed the baos but loved the pot stickers even more. I would definitely recommend the sweet rice bao. It has a unique texture and it’s delicious and gluten free! The home made sauce is delicious! And the owner and her daughter were very friendly and nice. It’s a little cozy inside but they also have some outside tables which was perfect! We’re looking forward to many more visits!
