Let me begin by saying I'm originally from Chicago and have had true authentic Italian food. We came in tonight with our dear friend for her birthday, as it's her favorite place. Now, on to tonight's dinner. Server was friendly enough but not overwhelming. Her lack of knowledge for the gluten free options left me uneasy. I don't want the server to "guess"...have the manager come over...I've even had the chef come out back home, confirming me of my options. The salad and dressing was delicious and from what my husband and other guests dining said, the bread served was fresh. As for my entree, I had the Veal Marsala... though plenty of mushrooms...nothing else overwhelming. No flavor. The side of pasta (which I'm pretty sure was not gluten free as requested) lacked sauce. Service was breif. No dessert was offered so we had to ask. Not sure if this establishment offers anything for birthday celebrations but she didn't acknowledge the birthday guest. Server did not apply the coupon used so I had to remind her. No apology just an "ok". Then when we left, noticed 4 staff members out back, (our server included) either on a cigarette break or whatever...either way, just tacky. Maybe I'm spoiled having better Italian food back home...regardless, I wouldn't recommend.
