Stopped in in the late afternoon after running some errands and finding Haam after a quick google search of vegan restaurants in the area. The space itself is beautiful and cozy, clean but colorful and filled with bright art and plants. I don’t normally note or care much about the bathrooms in a restaurant, but even the restrooms were pristine and beautifully decorated. We chose to sit in one of the booth tables near the large sunny window. Our server, Rosa, was lovely. She was warm and friendly and was very knowledgeable on the menu and ran through several options and substitution options for my partner with a gluten intolerance. We started with the Island Onigiri. It was so delicious that I failed to take a photo before scarfing the whole thing down. The spiced yellow rice with jerked mushrooms were fantastic with the accompanying chimichurri and crema sauce. This dish was by far the star of the show for me. I could’ve happily eaten a plate full of them. For entrees, we shared the Yuh Motha’s Mofongo (with the mushrooms served on the side for me to enjoy) and the Patacon de Jerk Mushrooms. The coconut curry on the mofungo was incredible and the breading on the oyster mushrooms was to die for - just like southern style fried chicken. The combination of subtly sweet and savory flavors together were just amazing. The Patacon de Jerk Mushrooms was good, but paled in comparison a bit to the other dishes we tried. I would have have probably thought it was very good had I not just had the onigiri to start, but for some reason, the flavor of the jerk mushrooms doesn’t come through quite as much on this dish, though it’s still a good sandwich option for those whole can’t eat wheat or gluten. I’m always so thrilled to find new vegetarian and vegan options that showcase real culinary skill and delicious flavors, so I’m happy that I now have Haam to add to my rotation and really excited to return to try out more of the menu!

Healthy as a Motha? More like UNhealthy as a mother. The majority of the items on the menu are not only fried, but also contain soy and gluten, which are both horrible for you. We also asked which oil they use and found out it’s vegetable and corn oils which are highly processed and GMO. It’s a shame that so many vegan restaurants try to claim and sell the idea of being health-conscious but when you look at the actuality… (the ingredients, the quality of the food, and how it’s made) it’s the complete opposite. We will not be coming back

Everything was delicious! We got the Cesar salad (very good), yuca fries (they were ok), the "steak" (best vegan meat I have ever had), the sweet plantain boat (so much flavor!). We also had the cassava cake and tried a couple mocktails... excellent. I would absolutely go here again. There are definitely enough gluten-free options. Lovely space and staff.
