We chose Harry’s Savoy Grill for my mom’s 70th birthday dinner, and sadly, it was a letdown. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt off. The stares we received upon walking in made it clear that African Americans dining there might not be the norm — very strange and uncomfortable. It gave off “rally” vibes that left us feeling out of place.
The noise level was unbearable, thanks to a table next to us that was clearly over-served. The staff didn’t seem to address it, even though it was obvious everyone was ready for them to leave.
The food was mediocre at best. The only vegan option was a hollowed-out squash with under-seasoned beans spilling over the plate — bland and unappetizing. No gluten-free pasta options were available, and the potatoes tasted like a bowl of oil. For a restaurant positioned as upscale, the food and overall experience were disappointing.
The only bright spot was being able to spend time with my family and celebrate my mom’s milestone, but I won’t be back. Definitely not worth the hype — next time, I’ll be paying closer attention to the reviews.
