I really wanted to love this place. After hearing and reading so many positive reviews, I gave it multiple chances — but unfortunately, I’ve had more negative than positive experiences.
The first time I ordered a gluten free burger and thought all was fine, until I became sick shortly after. I brushed it off until my second visit, when I ordered the same thing and noticed that my first order may not have actually been the gluten free version, which planted serious doubts.
Wanting to be more cautious, I decided to call ahead before my next visit to ask about their approach to cross contamination and allergy safety. I was met with a rude and dismissive tone. The staff member on the phone told me the cross contamination “must be fine because the restaurant is still in business,” which was very off-putting. I clarified and asked about things like a separate fryer, but the same unhelpful attitude continued — they told me the separate fryer wasn’t in use due to issues with it.
Despite these concerns, I gave it one more try. I called again to check if the fryer was back in use and was told it was. When I then mentioned my gluten allergy, I was informed it actually wasn’t safe for me to order because the fryer had already been exposed to gluten late in the week.
This left me seriously questioning whether the staff are properly trained in allergy safety and cross contamination — especially since the separate fryer, which should be kept safe for those with allergies, was knowingly compromised.
I no longer feel safe ordering from here, and I hope the restaurant takes the time to improve their allergy protocols and train staff accordingly. For now, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with coeliac disease or gluten allergies.
