Helm Bar & Bistro

Went for lunch with the family. One is a coeliac. Absolutely beautiful food and service and so nice to all be able to eat at the one place.

Had my nephews bucks here, nothing ridiculous just his brothers and dad plus me. Pre booked via a third party as a package. Staff were disinterested at best with manage at most points of the night sitting at what has become the “staff” lounge at the rear of the ground floor. Good was appalling! One meal was a throw away as after three attempts to get the sauce failed the eater gave up! The gluten free came out went back and came out twenty minutes later, so we had two people with out food at the table. Then! New and unverified RSA rules were rolled out! Can’t pick up more than one drink at the bar? We were sitting within 5 meters of the bar and each one of us had to get up to get a drink. And the best was when they started to shut downstairs bar we asked for one glass of ice! A simple request as there was probably 20 kg just sitting there. The answer was a solid NO! Bar is CLOSED!! For an establishment that is in a prime location you think they could do a much better job!!! Hey Australian retail! Stop complaining how bad it is and pick up your game. I am not wasting my hard earned on you lot any more!!
