I was really excited to try out this restaurant as I’ve heard great things about it (and we didn’t have to drive downtown).
We came here for an anniversary dinner and overall it was okay. The atmosphere was lovely with a modern space. We were greeted with some non-alcoholic champagne (I don’t drink) for the occasion which was nice. The menu was a little on the light side in terms of options. Since I have dietary restrictions, I went for the oysters and the halibut dish while my husband ordered the tartare and steak.
The halibut was really lacklustre and small compared to other equitable restaurants I’ve been to. It was a bit overcooked (my husband tried and he even said it was on the dry side and he’s not really all that into food). It also didn’t have the depth of flavour that I was expecting. The service was great to begin with but got slow once it was busy. There were also no gluten and/or dairy free desserts, which was really disappointing (since they emailed to ask if I had any).
The steak, according to my husband, was good but I can’t speak to it. He enjoyed it though but was still a bit hungry after dinner.
All in all, it was good night out but I’m not sure if we will visit again, especially for the price point.
