When I heard that The Hobbit was a fine dining restaurant, it was a bit of a surprise — but I’m not sure what I was expecting to begin with anyways. On Tuesday morning we heard about it, and fortunately were able to book for Thursday. We had been hoping to be seated on the patio but it had been raining all day — the restaurant called and asked if we’d mind being seated inside instead a few hours before.
Upon arrival, the restaurant asked what we were celebrating — newlyweds of four days! — and that was just the beginning of their amazing hospitality. Our server was Luke for the evening. He was great all around — super knowledgeable about the menu options, personable, and more than able to suggest wine pairings for the meal.
I’m gluten free due to celiac disease — the menu marked all GF options, as well as what could be modified. When my food was brought out, I was informed each time that they’d been aware of the gluten allergy which is always a lovely reassurance.
Everything we ate was well-seasoned and tasty, and we finished up with crème brûlée.
Genuinely, The Hobbit is well worth the visit, and I hope to come again the next time I am in Ocean City!
