Humboldt Bay Bistro

My wife and I were staying in Humboldt county for a week for an anniversary trip. We ended up eating here twice during that trip. The first time we just walked in without a reservation, the host was very nice and explained we may not be able to sit without a reservation as they were pretty booked up. Alas, they ended up finding a server with a spot for us. We had a nice seat overlooking the bay. The second time, we did make a reservation (over the phone - I left a voicemail before business hours - they called back promptly when they opened). We were seated immediately. During both trips, our service was delightful. The food was tremendous. My wife is gluten free and dairy free and they made all accommodations very happily. The cocktails were great, strong but delicious. The fish and chips is something special. My wife had the duck which she raved over. On our second visit we both ordered the special which was a salmon filet over rice and vegetables with a pineapple chutney on top. It was so amazing....I'd highly recommend getting whatever the special is. Those chefs know what they're doing. We will be back next time we're in Eureka.

My wife is GF and the Zucchini noodle with Alfredo sauce (add chicken) may be the best meal she has eaten since learning of her gluten allergy. On a side note the House Special, Halibut stuffed with crab over risotto was phenomenal! Don’t waste your stomach space with appetizers (although the crab cakes were the bomb). Jeffery, our server was fantastic! 10/10
