Everything was five stars up until… tasting the Peking duck. Everything about the duck except for the taste of the meat was amazing - from the ultra crispy skin, to the tender meat, to the presentation in the treasure chest, to the thin and chewy pancakes. But, the marinated flavors of a traditional Peking duck — notes of hoisin, five spice, and plum, simply wasn’t there and I was quite disappointed. I’ve had much more flavorful in less fancy places like Manhattan Chinatown I think a place called Ping’s. That said, we loved the appetizers: stir fried thinly cut potatoes, the gluten cold dish, and the treasure pockets with roe that came in a liquid nitrogen platform. Lastly the honey yogurt was a perfect not so sweet dessert for topping everything off.
