We were the only people in the place when we were there. Service was very slow for the restaurant being empty, but the young lady who took our drink orders was very nice. She said she wasn’t our server technically, but she is the one who actually came around and made sure we were good. I appreciated her very personable service.
Our actual server only came once, which was to take our order. We never saw her again. We could hear her socializing in the back the whole time, though.
The coffee we got was okay. I had the iced mocha, which I enjoyed, and my husband got a cappuccino, which was barely warm but still tasted great. My husband also got an ice cream sundae, which was drowned in chocolate syrup.
I have celiac disease, so I asked if they serve burgers on gluten free buns, and the server told me that they did. The burger, however, came on lettuce, which was disappointing. Don’t tell people you have gluten free buns if it’s just served on lettuce. The idea of gluten free buns got me excited due to them being so rare in restaurants. I would have ordered something different. The burger itself was very over cooked, which made it really chewy and so were the apples and onions strangely enough. I got the Julian burger. The coleslaw was store-bought and watery.
Given the other happy reviews, perhaps we came on a bad day or I just ordered something that isn’t their best. Two stars for a nice drink server and cute atmosphere.
