Booked on First Table for 3 people at 4:30 so we could catch a movie. Space was warm and quiet. Ordering drinks and getting sorted seemed to take ages but with first table you get the tasting menu for $50 each. Once the food started coming it just kept coming, so much food and they nicely catered for one of our table who is gluten free. Everything was fresh and delicious, the highlight was the chicken slider, naan stuffed with mushroom and goat cheese and the kingfish. In the end when we got the main we were already full and there was a huge bowl of chips. (also banging!!) It’s such a great deal, the only downside was the desert was chocolate stuff naan. It was a very heavy finish and we had no room. Something lighter would have been nice but again lots of food and a good deal so can’t complain. I’d go back to eat the slider any day.

We’d just arrived in Auckland from the U.K. and wanted to meet up with some friends who live in Auckland. It was Valentine’s night and a lot of restaurants were doing special Valentine’s menus but somebody recommended KOL and I booked it a few weeks in advance. We opted for the ‘chef’s selection’ as we didn’t know what to choose, and we weren’t disappointed - the food was truly amazing! We had appetisers, small plates, large plates and dessert, and everything was so well flavoured and seasoned. We weren’t an easy bunch to cater for, as one is diabetic, one is pescatarian but doesn’t like oysters and one is gluten intolerant, but you listened to us and provided dishes to suit us all. All of the staff were absolutely delightful and so helpful. Although I was told in advance that we only had the table for two hours, we ended up being there for just over three hours and nobody threw us out! It was a wonderful and very memorable evening and enjoyed by all of us. Thank you so much for making our introduction to New Zealand such a special experience.
