My partner and I came for afternoon tea. The decor was nice, but sitting next to a pillar wasn’t the best as it felt cramped and closed off. This was a bit disappointing as we had booked beforehand.
The tea was okay, the same tea you get in Wetherspoons so nothing special. However, there was a good selection saying this. The coffee was absolutely fine. On the bright side, there was unlimited refills so that’s a bonus
When the towers were placed on the table we weren’t told what selection of sandwiches or cakes we had. This left us guessing which was strange for an afternoon tea experience. Food wise there was a good selection of sandwiches, that were tasty. However the cakes were just okay. Couldn’t say there was any particular cake that stood out. The scone tasted store bought, not home made especially the gluten free one. The clotted cream didn’t seem like your typical clotted cream, more like whippy cream from a can. Additionally cleaning away the tower before we had finished left us both confused.
Overall for £40 odd quid for two people I would’ve liked better quality of cakes and tea as well as an explanation of what we were eating.
