Chef, great. Everything else, not so much. Waitress was very agitated that I politely asked if I could add tofu to the “vegetarian hibachi special.” The answer was no even though there was a tofu appetizer. Vegans also need protein. Vegetables and rice is not a sufficient meal, I’m sorry. Asked if there was tamari, there wasn’t. Every time I asked a simple question she seemed more annoyed. One in four people avoid gluten. It might be worth keeping some on hand. More than anything, I was polite and did not receive that same courtesy in return. Did she think I wouldn’t notice? My husband noticed and thought I would say something. I didn’t, only because I didn’t want to ruin the fun night we talked up for my son. Otherwise I would have been out of there fast.

As a Celiac I was encouraged to visit this restaurant where a safe gluten free meal was assured. I asked for gluten free soy sauce ( which Celiacs use) and poured the soy sauce liberally over my salad and consumed it. When I glanced at the bottle, almost finished with the salad, the soy sauce bottle label showed it was "Lite" soy sauce with wheat clearly in marked. It was not gluten free at all. I was shocked after I ate about a teaspoon full of the soy sauce. I called the waitress over. She declared that they use "Lite" bottles for their gluten free sauces. I didn't believe the explanation. At all. Even if the explanation was true, there was a risk of cross contamination right in the bottle. The Manager declined to comp my meal at my request; instead he threw a huge GF industrial sized bottle on my table and was downright nasty, threatening to call the police. It was strange to say the least. Of course we paid the total bill ( we never threatened not to) and left the premises. What a horrible man and horrible experience. My recommendation is to avoid nasty proprietors and their businesses.
