As someone living with celiac disease since 2015, finding restaurants with reliable gluten-free options is essential for me. Lake Park Diner used to be one of my go-to spots, where I've enjoyed a diverse range of gluten-free choices over the years. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me deeply disheartened.
In the past, Lake Park Diner prided itself on offering a selection of gluten-free sandwich bread, buns, and various safe, non-fried vegetable options. However, during my recent visit, I was disappointed to find that the staff seemed unaware of how to accommodate my dietary needs. And, the person who waited on me was incredibly impatient. Their uncertainty regarding whether the Caesar dressing was gluten-free and the misrepresentation of "roasted" sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts as fried options that could not be done gluten-free only added to my disappointment, as these have always been safe gluten-free options in the past.
While I appreciate the insight into the reasons behind the menu changes, I respectfully disagree. I understand the risks associated with dining out with dietary restrictions, but it's disheartening to see the removal of gluten-free labeling from the menu. This decision undermines Lake Park Diner’s previous efforts to provide inclusive options for patrons like myself.
My recent experience at Lake Park Diner fell short of my expectations as a gluten-free diner. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, and improvements are made to ensure that all customers, regardless of their dietary needs, can enjoy a positive dining experience.
