Le Toasteur Villeray, located on Villeray Street in Montreal, is a true brunch institution in the neighborhood, and I never tire of returning whenever I'm craving a delicious lunch. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., this cozy spot at 767 Villeray Street has become my favorite place to start the day off right, in a warm and relaxed neighborhood atmosphere.
What I particularly love is the menu, which changes every two months to showcase seasonal and local products as much as possible. The dishes combine reinvented classics with original creations: eggs Benedict on soft French toast, flavorful avocado toast, decadent breakfast poutine, light pancakes, and well-thought-out vegetarian options (with even gluten-free adaptations upon request). Everything is fresh, generous, presented with care, and the flavors are always spot-on—not too sweet, not too heavy, just perfect. The coffee is excellent, served in a bowl if you like, and the iced lattes and chai are to die for.
The atmosphere is truly delightful: a small, intimate, and charming space, with a second floor that gives it an indoor terrace vibe—bright and welcoming. The staff is lovely, attentive, smiling, and always ready to offer advice or discuss the daily specials. It's the perfect spot for a quiet brunch alone, as a couple, or with friends—no frills, but with real quality.
For me, Le Toasteur embodies the authentic Montreal brunch: simple, delicious, seasonal, and personal. If you're in Villeray or the surrounding area, it's a must! Five stars without hesitation, and a huge thank you to the whole team for these moments of pure pleasure. 🍞
