NO LONGER A GLUTEN FREE ESTABLISHMENT!!!! Silently becoming a non gluten free establishment by changing how gluten free orders are prepared is reckless and dangerous. If you have customers that trust you to provide safe food, INFORM THEM WHEN YOU CHANGE YOUR ALLERGY PREPARATION. In response to owner: I would advise you to take a look at your online order page which is still using the GF (gluten free) label as of 2/1/2024. I would also like for you to see that the pinned feature on your Facebook is also still using the GF label (gluten free) as of 2/1/2024. Additionally, no comments were made while ordering gluten free in person and informing the server that it was for Celiac disease. If you change your preparation procedures after being an establishment that used to be able to produce gluten free food (e.g. dedicated GF fryer) it is your duty to inform your customers that those safety procedures no longer exist. Once again, it is reckless and dangerous. I have Celiac disease and I have gone to your establishment as a regular for almost a year and have never gotten sick. The wait staff were happy to confirm gluten free items on the menu and would ensure that I would be Celiac safe. Since your recent changes to the gluten free prep I have been very sick after dining at your establishment. It does not give me pleasure to give a 1 star review because I loved this establishment. Final response to owner: It is good to see that this review prompted a change of the menu so that hopefully no one else with an allergy gets sick from your restaurant. There is 1 last item on the online menu still marked as GF (Papas Fritas appetizer). I would encourage you to also read into wheat allergies as the current Wheat Free labels could lead to someone with a wheat allergy thinking your food is safe when it is not being that everything is fried with the empanadas and cross contaminated as well. If you wish to appeal to fad dieters you should mark your menu as "mostly gluten free", "reduced wheat", "reduced gluten", or add a footnote saying that it is not an allergy safe space. I hope your pivot to empanadas serves you well and I hope this review will prompt more mindful labeling and behavior towards people who aren't following a fad diet.

Luna is one of my go-to restaurants in downtown Durham. Nearly everything on the menu is gluten free, and all of it tastes fresh and wonderful.
